All this tweeting about the sun setting an hour earlier starting on Sunday and how sad and depressing and forlorn life’s gonna get is only so much manipulative and mendacious gaslighting. These pearl-clutchers want to make us think that Standard Time is some vestigial cruelty of a bygone era; that the sheer perversity of short winter days and long winter nights must be blamed on negligent, misanthropic senators rather than on the tilt of the earth’s axis at 23.44º. As if we as a civilized society in the Current Year should have long since moved past leaving work after sunset! Yet somehow these weepers and wailers never bring up the obvious corollary: shouldn’t we in the Big ’26 have long since moved past going *to* work *before sunrise*? They don’t bring this up not because it doesn’t occur to them, but because it doesn’t cater to their goals. No, for them, sunlight in the evening matters; sunlight in the morning does not. Why? Because the former gets us focused on leisure, entertainment, golf, halloween candy, and commercial profit; the latter gets us focused on vigor, work, and study by day, followed by quiet rest and deep sleep by night. The former fills their pockets; the latter makes us sane. We should relish our quiet, dark, fall and winter evenings! They’re delicious. They’re a healing balm after the activity not only of the day now over – a day that was energized by bright, early-morning sunshine – but also that of the long, verdant and vibrant summer now past. But these people don’t want us to enjoy winter evenings at home, inside, in warmth and peace, with all the interior contentment and contemplative coziness that are bound up in that great but now rare word: “hearth.” Part of the problem, of course, is that we either can’t or won’t learn how to make our own homes places of beauty, places where we *want* to be. Instead we flood them with overhead lighting and fill them with screens, so that even when we’re at home, we’re not. And I bet there’s a big overlap in the Venn diagram between the permanent-DST-foisters and the people who started this trend of mounting TVs directly above fireplaces – so as to gut even the idea of the memory of what a quiet family hearth might be like. In the U.S., the year used to be evenly split between standard time and daylight saving. That still wasn’t ideal. But then Big Candy and Big Golf got standard time reduced to only a third of the year: November through February. It’s only during those four months that midday is truly at noon and midnight truly at midnight. In the other eight months, we set the clocks an hour fast – we get up an hour earlier – and thus we can pretend that the sun goes down later. So for all you corporate pearl-clutchers out there howling and writhing as this weekend approaches: what’s your motive? Cui bono? (Painting: Adriaen van Ostade, A Talk by the Fireplace, c. 1640)
Clocks will go back on Nov 1 making it dark at 430 pm. This is a travesty for kids & adults no longer able to do any outside activities until we get back to daylight Savings Time in Spring. All because the RINO's in the Senate wont pass the DST bill!! This is how the cabal wins keeping us in the dark LITERALLY. You all need to holler about this on X in the upcoming days . Let's see who'll post about it Lets see who'll VOTE tomorrow all R so we can pass the make DST permanent bill ASAP YOUR VOTE MATTERS

democrats: if we take power we will seize elon musk's companies and put him in prison and no, we do not care if he technically committed any crime or not also democrats, somehow: why is elon musk funding republicans?
Elon Musk is dumping half a billion dollars into Republican races. Why? Because Democrats in Congress won’t be a rubber stamp for Donald Trump and will actually fight to lower costs.

No one would make the case that women never cheat . . . but the case that they cheat more than men is just straight up gender creationism To start, this person is quoting a study with a sample size of 3 couples? I hope that's a typo lol Regardless of any typos, though, I've heard the claim "women cheat more or equivalent to men" more than once and it needs to stop because it's not true and flies in the face of everything we know about evolutionary biology First of all, to break this down fairly, you have to define cheating, and define patterns of behavior According to a landmark 1992 study led by evolutionary psychologist David Buss at the University of Texas at Austin, men and women process betrayal through entirely different lenses When surveyed, 60% of men reported that a partner's physical/sexual infidelity was more distressing, whereas 83% of women stated that emotional infidelity was the true dealbreaker Divorce attorney James Sexton - who I don't always agree with, but does have some valuable insights on the topic of what leads to marital breakdown - perfectly describes this phoenomenon by pointing to reality shows where spouses catch each other cheating, but the question the person being cheated on asks differs depending on their sex. The men ask "Did you fuck him?" While the women ask "Do you love her?" Men are historically driven by paternity certainty (the fear of raising another man's genetic child), while women are driven by resource and emotional retention (the fear of a partner abandoning the family unit). Equating a transactional, physical encounter with a deep emotional replacement is an intentional misreading of human psychology The demographic data also completely shatters the idea that women step out at the same rate or in the same way as men do According to decades of data from the General Social Survey (GSS) analyzed by the Institute for Family Studies, married men consistently cheat at higher rates than married women across almost every age bracket (20% of married men vs. 13% of married women) Furthermore, research shows men are far more likely to be serial repeat offenders across their lifetimes. Men are also exponentially more likely to seek out sex workers or opportunistic casual encounters - a pattern of behavior that carries a drastically higher statistical risk of contracting and transmitting STDs back to their wives Internet misogynists love to invoke paternity fraud to argue that women are uniquely deceitful, yet empirical science tells a completely different story: A comprehensive 2008 meta-analysis published in Trends in Genetics evaluated non-paternity studies across Western populations and found that actual, hidden paternity fraud sits at a remarkably low 2.1% to 3.1%. Meanwhile, men abandoning parental obligations, fathering unwanted children outside of primary marriages, or spreading STDs remains statistically far more prevalent In fact, federal demographic data shows that men fathering children outside of their marriage is dramatically more common than paternity fraud According to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (National Survey of Family Growth) analyzing national fertility patterns, approximately 7.8% of fathers who started with a marital birth went on to father additional biological children outside of marriage, either while still married or after stepping out. Overall, roughly 24.3% of all American fathers have a mixed fertility pattern, meaning they have fathered children both inside and outside of wedlock across their lifetimes So while internet red-pillers spin sensationalized horror stories about a 2% non-paternity rate, men actively fathering extra-marital children is literally three to eight times higher by the numbers

According to a study in 2020, out of a sample of 3 couples, 1/3rd of women cheat on their husbands while none of the husbands cheat on their wives. Fuck you, it's science.

Cool idea for an app!
Hi guys I was tired of missing cool sunsets so I made a bot and website to show sunset quality forecasts. SkyGrade compares several recent runs of a high resolution weather model to grade every spot's sunrise and sunset from A+ to F, based on how much high cloud there is to catch the color, whether lower clouds block the light, and how much smoke or haze is in the air.

Here is a flat-out LIE from the CDC on February 19, 2021: "During December 14, 2020–January 13, 2021... VAERS received 6,994 reports of COVID-19–associated adverse events during this period." General Dynamics had already notified the CDC a month before of TEN TIMES that many reports, so many that they could not process them because they had blown by the "worst-case scenario." By the time the CDC report came out, there were 107,000 reports! The CDC's Julianne M. Gee – who still works there – said all reports are "reassuring" and that there are "no unexpected patterns of reactions or other safety concerns have been identified." Already 9,000-plus Americans – a small fraction of the total – had reported serious harms to VAERS. Do you follow what this means, what this implies? cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/m…

Because mRNA famously doesn't break down. (By the way this is sarcasm. Usually I wouldn't feel the need to clarify that, but your claims are so stupid it feels required).

Incredibly wasteful.
For anyone curious about what it actually looked like to kill a generation of functioning cars, here’s an actual video from 2009 and brief explanation: The dealer first replaces the oil with sodium silicate solution. It’s a clear-ish liquid that crystallizes under extreme heat. As the engine warms up the solution begins to form small abrasive crystals in the oil system that shred the bearing and score the cylinder walls. Within seconds of starting the car you can see smoke billowing from the exhaust, this is the crystals scratching the cylinder walls and leaving small grooves for oil and solution to leak past into the combustion chamber and ignite/evaporate, producing the white smoke. Pretty soon the entire crankcase is full of crystals and freshly shredded metal flakes, the engine seizes. It took about 40 seconds in this video. Some engines reportedly lasted up to 7 minutes, but all were destroyed. That strikes me as sort of sad in a way, like watching a great warrior slowly lose a heroic last stand. Now, this is the part that gets insanely wasteful. These cars were sent to federally approved recycling facilities where they had 180 days to sell the non-engine parts before they were required to prove that they had shred the entire thing into scrap steel. But, in talking to a guy who ran one such facility at the time, he typically just sent them straight to the crusher. The timeframes allotted weren’t long enough to dismantle all of the cars, and even if you could, the marginal prices of the parts was greatly diminished. You cannot sell 1000 transmissions when only 50 went bad that year, they became worthless. So just like that, in order to increase prosperity and save the environment, 677,000 entire running cars and trucks were turned directly into rebar worth a few cents per pound. The entire Obama administration was like a chapter out of atlas shrugged.

Misleading. Image text is from a Dutch group (Artsen Collectief), not a Swedish source. Sweden’s regions chose Sanofi’s Nuvaxovid as sole supplier for the 2027/2028 campaign only. If, by the way, the same situation that just happened in Brazil had happened but with the parties switched -- if Bolsonaro had won last night's election and then a pro-Bolsonaro judge sent the Federal Police to seize Lula's passport and bar him from leaving the country -- every major western media outlet and liberal NGOs would be screaming about the authoritarian attack on Brazil's elections and the destruction of basic freedoms.
One day after Lula was declared the winner of Brazil's elections, his opponent -- Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro -- just had had his passport seized by the Federal Police. Theose police were sent by notorious tyrant Judge Alexandre de Moraes. What a lovely democratic image.

Elon Musk warned about the Ukraine war years ago, and it's absolutely tragic how accurately he predicted the devastating cost of human lives from this conflict Back in October 2022, Elon didn't just call for peace. He actually proposed a peace plan involving UN-supervised votes in occupied regions, recognizing Crimea as Russian, guaranteeing its water supply, and Ukraine remaining neutral He warned that continuing this war would bring devastating death and destruction, with countless young Ukrainians and Russians losing their lives And look at what's happened since then More than 2 MILLION military casualties, entire cities destroyed, millions of people forced from their homes, and the war is still going on with no lasting peace Elon faced enormous backlash for proposing a path toward peace, but the human cost he warned about has become an absolutely horrifying reality And that's what makes this so tragic. These are human beings with parents, families, loved ones, and entire lives ahead of them, not disposable pieces on some geopolitical chessboard How many more young people have to die in trenches before ending this endless slaughter becomes just as important as deciding who wins the war? Elon saw the devastating human cost of a prolonged war coming years ago, and instead of taking his warning seriously, people attacked him for even putting a peace proposal on the table Just imagine how many lives could have been saved if a lasting peace had been reached years earlier How much more death and destruction will it take before ending this meat grinder becomes the priority??

Elon Musk understands something that the political establishment desperately wants people to forget. Government isn’t some magical institution that protects you from concentrated corporate power. It is concentrated power. And unlike corporations, it has the legal authority to use force against you. Now imagine giving that power to a global government. One political hierarchy. Billions of people. No competing jurisdiction to escape to. No meaningful alternative when the people in charge decide your rights are inconvenient. That’s not progress. That’s the blueprint for the most terrifying monopoly in human history. Look at what’s happening across Europe. More authority concentrated in distant institutions. More regulatory power. More restrictions on speech. More decisions made by people ordinary citizens can barely hold accountable. The answer has always been decentralization, private property, free markets, and the freedom to walk away. Yet the political left keeps demanding more centralization, more bureaucracy, and more authority over ordinary people. And somehow they call that liberation. What a fucking joke.
Replying to @Rothmus
Those who are opposed to corporations and favor government do not realize that government is simply the largest, most monopolistic corporation of all and it has a monopoly on violence.

According to VAERS data through 9/25/2026, COVID-19 vaccines account for ~39,260 reported deaths and ~1,678,901 adverse events. This exceeds all other vaccines combined (1990-present: ~12,192 deaths and ~1,082,945 events). Pfizer-BioNTech leads among them with the highest share of those reports.

The Soviet atrocities must not be forgotten or repeated.
Between 1930 and 1933 the Soviet state ordered the Kazakh nomads to stop moving, took their animals for the state's meat quota, and drove the herds to collection points where there was nothing for them to eat, and a people that had lived on milk and meat for three thousand years lost nine animals in ten and four people in ten. The Kazakhs were not farmers. They were herders of the steppe, moving with the seasons between pastures with their sheep, horses, camels and cattle, living on kumis, mutton and the dried curd of the summer milk, with their wealth on four legs and their houses on carts. Moscow's man in Alma-Ata, Filipp Goloshchekin, who had organised the shooting of the Tsar's family in a cellar, called them backward and announced a Little October: the nomads would be settled on collective farms, their herds would be pooled, and the meat procurement quotas of the five-year plan would come from the animals. The brigades came and counted the livestock and took it. Herds were driven hundreds of miles to railheads and state farms that had no fodder for them, and died there in heaps, of hunger and the winter, uneaten. Families were ordered to stop in one place on a steppe where staying in one place kills every animal by the end of the season. The quotas were set on paper and enforced with guns, and a Kazakh who slaughtered his own sheep to feed his children was prosecuted for destroying state property. The numbers are the whole story: forty million head of livestock in Kazakhstan in 1929, four million by 1933. Sheep from nineteen million to under two. Camels, the animal that had carried the nation, from a million to seventy thousand. With the animals gone the people had nothing, because the people were the animals. They walked. More than a million fled, into China, into Siberia, into the towns where they died at the stations, and a million and a half stayed and died on the steppe, something like forty percent of all the Kazakhs alive, the highest death rate of any people in the Soviet famine. Whole clans vanished. The party in Alma-Ata reported that collectivisation was proceeding. Goloshchekin was shot by his own side in 1941. A nation built on milk and meat was converted by decree into a nation of grain farmers on land that grows no grain, and the state's ledger had the herds on it as a quota to be delivered, by the ton, dead or alive. The animals had been feeding the Kazakhs for three millennia. The state fed them for three years.

This clears up the confusion about the Ukraine-Starlink brouhaha—and increases my appreciation of Elon Musk.
Correct. Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be. Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them. Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week. Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact. Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia. SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR. That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell. End of story.
