day 3 of no AO3: we have run out of food (discourse). now people are saying it's bad to discuss fanfiction you like with friends unless you have your entire conversation in the fic's comment sections

I remember reading a fic recently and a commentor left a comment that basically went "OMG we talk about your fic in our discord all the time" and I was like....."you could just leave comments for the author???" The fic author is also part of the fandom experience 🙃

That's cuz the yj team as a whole prob only were polite towards Jackie pre-crash bc she was the team captain, in the wilderness they all took Shauna's side mostly bc they saw no reason to "stand" Jackie since she wasn't rlly helping them neither she was a menace 💀

on s1e10 of my yj rewatch and...i can't believe there are ppl that take shauna's side in her fight with jackie lol. she pretty much just spends the whole thing deflecting.

It's true but it speaks volumes that Jackie lost this fight the second she instigated it here by antognistizing Lottie, who had just killed the bear that's about to feed them for the foreseeable future. Yeah Shauna was full of shit..and it didn't matter

it is a HOBBY. ffs. you're supposed to get enjoyment from the hobby. creating is supposed to make you happy. fanfiction is not an industry; it does not need to be 'sustainable.'

This ao3 discourse is really highlighting to me that a lot of people genuinely believe “you will create and get nothing and be happy” is a sustainable model for fanfiction.
