Whitepill and blackpill within a span of 40 mins. Lucknow-Kanpur Eway and Kanpur central railway station. Why can’t we have dignified waiting spaces for people at our stations? When the biggest stations have scenes like this, it’s not hard to imagine the condition of smaller ones

Timeless definition of dehat by @VarshneyVardhan ...
If by Dehat we mean rural in a location-sense, a group of people who live in villages then obviously I am not anti-Dehat nor are the @JungIndien @sirfaditya folks I am sure. @svembu has shown wonderfully, for example, you can run the world’s biggest companies, in large parts at least, from villages. Rurban becomes a continuum - a game of infra and sustainable living. I am anti-Dehat, though, in the Ambedkarite sense. The idea that there could be a community veto of who you love, where you study, what your occupation is and so on. That mindset could be in cities too. Little girls being covered head to toe is unfortunately a not uncommon sight in Indian cities. I don’t think there is any need to clarify this, just like post-religious or anti-socialism need not be or modernity itself. But nonetheless it is useful. The point is not to sneer at hillybillies, the way the newly converted Romans sneered at “pagans” - very much a play on the rural polytheists being apparently boorish simpletons. For me Dehat simply means the Khap and its related apparatus. It is a reminder that our civilisation failed to have our own state in large parts for centuries and hence defensively reflexively went into this shell. Being anti-Dehat is breaking that shell, unapologetically.

Regional music has immense potential. Punjabi music is unparalleled due to deep impact on popular culture, even Haryanvi is catching up. Tamil and Telugu are already big. Bhojpuri is probably the biggest under performer. Hasn’t grown beyond auto tune and double-meaning lyrics.
A partner at EY India told me yesterday that the total economic activity created by Punjabi music this year will be in excess of INR 10,000 Cr. I found it hard to believe. He shared that as per one of the reports EY did, the total economic impact of Diljit Dosanjh's 2024 Dil-Luminati India tour was estimated at ₹943 crore, with direct tour revenue at ₹276 crore. This year just Diljit's India + Global economic activity will be in excess of INR 1800 Cr. That is just one artist. If 20 other artists (Karan Aujla, Jasmin, Sartaj etc) hit even INR 200 Cr per artist, the total for top 20 artists (including Diljit) alone is INR 5000 Cr. Add to this 50 other names. Then there are 500+ record labels releasing thousands of songs, YouTube revenue, Spotify revenue, film music revenue, royalties from past releases et al. The total economic activity crosses INR 10,000 Cr.

Why can’t Mittal and Ambani set up something like Indus Towers for LEO satellites? Together they can raise required capital, fund relevant space tech startups. The country will have a domestic satcom provider. It can also be an alternative to Starlink in Europe, Africa.

It’s easier to start a physical business than a digital business. When you build something physical like a factory or a restaurant, you see tangible changes everyday which gives daily highs. Digital biz requires stretches of backend work without any tangible gains.

One of the most bad faith actors in India are babus who start analysing, suggesting, writing, criticising policies after retirement. They conclude and then built an argument to prove that conclusion. Don’t know where all brain power goes when in power.
IMF estimated World real GDP growth at 3.1%; China, India at 4.5% & 7%. Stutians were overjoyed. IMF’s GDP growth in current USD is: World 8.03%; China, India at 9.78% & 3.87%. India is amongst the lowest in world. Be Prabuddha: see full picture. My oped. deccanherald.com/opinion/app…

Three areas and two companies in Gujarat are at the centre of India’s energy transition dream. Their success/failure will decide if our dependence on imported energy will increase or decrease in the next 15 years. The areas are Jamnagar, Mundra and Kutch and the companies. IYKYK.

The right framework to look at the issue. If Elon would have been Chinese, would we be okay with Starlink? If not, why allow exception for Americans. Isn’t Donald Trump treating us like an adversary? Why increase dependence on US tech giants?
Starlink is licensed in over 165 countries and has spent five years complying with every single law and requirement of the government of India, so why still no license? Is Ambani the real boss of India?

A century ago the demand and tone of the US president would probably have been different. Even way past its peak, Europe as a civilisation was still the preeminent one. Today, they are being arm twisted every other day. Lesson for us, rise or become a bully’s target.

Indian corporates think technology acquisition works like some bhandara where they will come in brokering “market access” to India, and global tech / IP owners will fall over themselves to hand them cutting edge technology in jet engines, drones, semiconductors and energy storage. A small cabal of sold out dalaals has been pushing this fiction and driving India to erect trade barriers without undertaking sufficient domestic reforms - they cheer when some corporate does a JV as if that JV will yield IP transfer, presuming foreign IP owners are foolish. Nothing could be further from reality, and this deep delusion is reinforced for business owners by systems and cultures of their own making. They should know and do better. Nobody is going to hand over technology. You can only own it if you build it. That requires R&D investment and a change in internal culture. Wake up and smell the coffee ☕️ Indian corporates need to change and evolve - reset how organizations are structured, invest more in research. Good, creative people will not work with lala outfits. Shape up, or be prepared to be shipped out.

The video from Jamui, Bihar is deeply disturbing. Two Class 10 students were stopped on a road. Harassed. Humiliated. Molested. A young girl, hands folded, begged to be let go while goons groped her and dragged her away. Who gave these men the right to behave like this? This is not "culture." It is patriarchy: the belief that any man can police a girl's body, her movement, her choices. When control is mistaken for culture, and such attitudes are normalised by Andhbhakts, mobs start believing they are the law. Every individual in that video must be identified and prosecuted under POCSO, and justice must be swift. And if the incident happened on September 19th, why are the culprits not behind bars yet? And the Bihar government must answer why a girl is not safe on a public road at 7 pm?

These guys are no better than animals. Zero instinct control. Also, note that someone has added music to the video as if they are doing a heroic job. Just catch them and cull them.

When you make an exception in law and order based on any one of the millions of identities that Indians flaunt like caste, religion, language or profession, this is what happens. Challenge to law and order doesn’t remain an exception, it becomes a norm.
Ye sab kya chal riya hai 😳 Patients denied entry to ER

This is what happens when criminals are supported by the system and victim blaming is the first instinct. Delhi NCR is becoming a hell for everyone living in the zone except criminals.

Trump’s stupid Iran war is currently the number 1 pain point for India. We import 85% of our energy and as per estimates every $10 increase in crude prices, negatively affects Indian growth by 20 to 50 basis point, that’s a potential $8 billion economic loss at the lower end.

Is too less considering currency depreciation. And one of the major reasons for rupee depreciation is the rising value of crude imports. It leads to more demand for dollars which creates pressure on INR. And then they have coming up with a bill sanctioning top importers

Of Russian oil. So, basically, Trump’s war is directly fueling inflation in India, indirectly fueling capital flight and stock market correction and then also pressurising India to stop importing available crude.
