Two interesting things I discovered this week are:
1. That you can get genuine court affidavits online from the Nigerian Federal High Court. A genuine one, not the ones those roadside people give you.
The website has all sorts of affidavits, even ones I didn't know existed.
2. The National Population Commission has a working portal. You can register your newborn online and get a certified birth certificate that is accepted worldwide.
You can do all these things without any bureaucracy.

This is something I used to ask myself until I realised that we live in a low-trust society.
It's often easier to scam Westerners precisely because they come from high-trust societies, and we mistake that trust for stupidity.
Take the US, for example. You can print your own check, deposit a check by simply taking a picture with your banking app, and even start using some of the money before the check has fully cleared. You don't even have to visit a bank.
Compare that with most parts of Africa, where something as simple as forgetting your banking app password can mean physically visiting a bank branch with all your identification documents.
We have become so accustomed to suspicion and distrust that we mistake our cunningness for intelligence and other people's trust for foolishness.
We think we are smarter because we are harder to fool, without realising that we have built societies where nobody trusts anybody.

Given enough time everything eventually turn to shit. I think a codebase will remain fresh if some organised effort is put in to always go back and improve things.
While businesses aren’t always rewarding for keeping things fresh, the leader must recognise this as a long term investment to keep the team’s velocity high.

Lack of regulation is a serious problem in the Nigerian real estate space, but that itself is a massive opportunity.
And because it is difficult to crack, many can't see it through.

As a founder, it can feel like heart break to discover a gap in the market, pursue it with everything you have, and then discover there is no market in the gap.
Even when you're very sure of your solution and have a great team, the market might just not be ripe for harvest.
