as a filmmaker i would be so upset if i did everything to avoid reductive takes like this and people still interpreted my work of art like this. like Coogler has done so many interviews explaining this wasn’t the case. we need to start screening directors commentaries in cinemas.

Jack Antonoff tells Ed Sheeran to “stand the f*ck up” after Macklemore was fired from his tour for showing support to Palestine:
“it’s not in any way a strange, uncomfortable or controversial thing to say [Free Palestine], it’s a deeply human thing to say. If you think it is [controversial] you’re lost in some other sauce that is so crazy. They’re going to let some f*cking promoter tell me what I can say? Don’t book me. I’ll play for free outside. [Ed Sheeran] missed a massive, beautiful opportunity there: just cancel the whole fucking tour, then play for free outside each venue, raise a bunch of money, rather than let a fucking billionaire tell you what to do. The reason it’s not an anomaly or niche issue is because we all live in a world where billionaires are constantly telling us what to do. So stand the f*ck up.”

the people invited watching the movie:
In San Francisco, you can't just watch a new movie.
You’re invited to a VC funded screening.
You wait to see if you get off the waitlist.
You text your friends to see if they're going to the same one and no, not that other one that everyone else went to.
You thank the startup (ty @ExtendHQ!) for hosting.
You post online that You Saw Everything to humble brag that you went a watch party.
i would love @imPatrickT to bring back Lance and David on his channel, because i need to know how they shot you can see everything. that shit was insane.
Cool, cool. Sure, it wasn’t for sale. That’s the narrative Art of Play is gonna go with 👍 so the whole conversation we had when I asked you if it was for sale whilst pointing to the price tag hanging on the wall with the title Singing Bird didn’t happen as you elevator eyed me saying in a condescending tone “yes, it’s for sale but it costs 15,000 dollars so if you’d like me to find something comparable for you I can.” That all never happened and now it’s not for sale. Okay, cool. So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it ✅
And by the way, I obviously support small businesses because I was literally at a small business trying to purchase things. I love small businesses and know they are important and I always support them, but you don’t get a free pass to treat people less than in your store just because you are a small business. It’s not that hard to be kind. I never blast people but you my friend were an exception.
Your store is really cool.
Unfortunately, you aren’t.
confusing consumerism with creating art seemed like the inevitable outcome of streaming and tech bros like this who only value the world in numbers
had to lock into the @imPatrickT talk with Lance and David after watching Primetime cos he always gets the best out of the makers
incredible interview as well
