Back at my parents house tonight. Going through my archive from books I’ve read in my 20’s. I’m so enthusiastic about tech media because it’s a free (or very cheap) way to become an insider in a very exclusive industry. I had to fight to be where I am today. And in many ways, continually reinvent myself and teach myself everything I know. I’m shocked when I meet someone who works in the tech industry and doesn’t study history. They are missing so much context. I got dinner with a founder a few weeks ago. Found out he was from Vegas. He mentioned Zappos. Then we could chop it up about the legacy of Tony Hsieh. I know his background through his book. I’ve always said, I read memoirs and biographies because I’m preparing to meet everyone I read about. Sometimes between scheduling and meeting someone, I will have ordered their book, read it, annotated it and brought it with me to meet them. We keep talking about taste and distribution. But Giving a sh*t is the moat. Caring more than the next guy is the moat. Being ready when the luck happens is the moat.

yoo @elonmusk @nikitabier @allegrajacchia @alexandr_wang, idk who else to reach out to, but i really need y'all's help. there seems to be a bug or loophole in X's automated moderation system that's potentially being exploited through malicious mass reporting or false flagging. my friend @whatRanjuSaid has been posting creative content about Meta's Muse mascot, and her posts are being falsely flagged as ch1lld expl00itation. we suspect malicious actors are abusing the reporting system to trigger these flags and gaming the system her account is now locked for no fault of hers.... we live and breathe X ngl, i don't even have LinkedIn or Instagram fr and it'd mean a lot to us if any X employee can look into this and give her the account back please, if anyone from the X team sees this, look into the situation and help restore her account. there are real people behind these accounts, and this genuinely means the world to us.
