Dreamt I was in lunar orbit last night. Been in that post-vivid-dream-that-wasn't-real funk all morning.

Something that people on this platform apparently need to hear, even if it makes them feel uncomfortable: if you live in a state that does not believe that transgender rights are human rights, you will never be a true alternative to Silicon Valley -- let alone the next one.

Trader Joe’s shelves are empty but the bodega shelves are full. You got extra milk, eggs, and bread. I’ve got around the clock access to empanadas, dozens of Haribo varieties, several bananas, and every carbonated beverage ever canned.

My office is ending @Betar_USA's campaign that engaged in bias-motivated assaults, threats, and harassment targeting Muslim, Arab, Palestinian, and Jewish New Yorkers.
My office will continue to use every tool available to protect all New Yorkers’ civil rights and public safety.

This, from @SenPeterWelch on the release of Mohammed Ibrahim and Israel’s prosecution of Palestinian children, is one of the strongest statements I’ve ever read from a sitting U.S. senator on Israel. Few passages below, but read the full statement in next tweet.

Special shoutout to my home-state Senators, @SenSchumer and @SenGillibrand, who ignored calls from my mother and countless others for months on end. And to Florida’s own @SenRickScott and @SenAshleyMoody, who never once uttered their constituent’s name.

I haven’t done anything of note but I’m convinced Isaac Chotiner could get me to implicate myself in something insane after a 30 minute conversation. I am not above whatever magic spell he puts on people.

⚖️ BREAKING: Israel’s Supreme Court has ruled that the government is starving Palestinian prisoners, ordering authorities to improve nutrition after finding “real doubts” inmates were receiving enough food to meet conditions of “basic subsistence.”
The state is legally obligated to provide prisoners with enough food to ensure “a basic level of existence,” they said, and in a 2-1 ruling found that there were “indications that the current food supply to prisoners does not sufficiently guarantee compliance with the legal standard.”
The case was brought by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and Gisha after food policy changes left prisoners malnourished, with a 17-year-old child dying of starvation in March.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has boasted of cutting prisoner conditions to the “bare minimum,” lashed out at the verdict and vowed the policy of providing only “the most minimal conditions” would continue. ACRI said prisons have become “torture camps,” adding: “A state does not starve people. People do not starve people.”

Jews need to get over the lie that the Holocaust special and we are unique victims for experiencing it. It was a horrific genocide. All genocides are horrific, including the one in Gaza. We don’t have a monopoly on victimhood and we don’t have any excuses for perpetrating our own genocide.

I'm getting a lot of questions about this (false) claim, so let's do a wonky deep dive on how willfully wrong @Israel is on this.
Right off the top: this is the EXACT SAME THRESHOLD that was used in the Sudan famine declaration last year.
Not any lowering of the bar for Gaza.

Let’s say Israel’s claims are true and some aid from outside humanitarian groups was being stolen by Hamas, it is still psychopathically evil to starve two million civilians, over half being children, in order to not run the risk of your enemy getting their hands on bags of flour

Released from ICE detention last night!
Thrilled to report Ward Sakeik is free. She is a 22-yr-old stateless Palestinian woman detained by ICE since February after returning from her honeymoon in the US Virgin Islands.

Israelis For Peace NYC mayoral race statement: As a part of the progressive movement, we are excited to have legitimately progressive candidates, chiefly @bradlander and @ZohranKMamdani , in the NYC mayoral race. Candidates who also endorsed each other and have been supporting each other through smear campaigns and even arrests, proving an actual will to build and widen coalitions - a method of change we deeply believe in.
As a group of Israeli immigrants focused on the Middle East, we would normally feel no need to comment on the NYC mayoral race, but this time, the candidates’ positions on Israel-Palestine are playing an undeniably large part.
For this reason, we want to share, from our personal experience, what we know about Brad Lander‘s positions.
Not from statements, but from actions. From the many times in the past 20 months that he has protested with us, calling, from the very beginning, for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages. Upholding, from the very beginning, the humanity of both Palestinian and Israeli civilians.
Many Sundays, Brad has stood with us and read testimonies from Gazans and from hostage family members. He listened with us to speeches by Palestinian and Israeli activists. He sang, cried and chanted with us - not only to end the war and release the hostages, but also for an end to the occupation of the West Bank and to the siege on Gaza and for a safe, equal, future for both peoples. He spoke at our October 7th vigil last year, and silently held up photos of children killed in Gaza with us last month. He is a part of our community, not as NYC comptroller, but as a human being.
We think these actions, without the presence of the press, say more than comments or labels ever could, so we present them to you.
P.S Don’t rank Cuomo.

Mohsen is a peace activist (who has also been outspoken against antisemitism). We know this because we had met and talked about how to possibly work together to promote safety and equality for everyone on the land. We stand with Mohsen and against this attack on democracy.
BREAKING: This is the moment just minutes ago when Mohsen Madawi a Columbia University student was apprehended by HSI agents in the middle of his appointment to become a U.S. citizen. He is a Palestinian-born green card holder. Video was taken by his friend @ChrisHelali
