Credit to the EP team in Bern for this excellent remapping study after either RF or PFA. Mandated remapping is much better than remapping for symptoms jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.jacep… A) PFA no better than RF for durable PVI B) Recapitulates GAP study showing that AF still occurs in one-third of durably isolated PVs and 72% of those with reconnected veins DID NOT have AF at one year This is the crux of our problem in EP: we don't understand the pathophysiology of the condition. PVs get isolated because we can. @TobiasReichlin

Union Health Secretary Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava participated in a stakeholder workshop on strengthening Health Professional Education for Cardiometabolic Diseases (CMD), organised by @aiims_newdelhi under the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) programme. The workshop brought together experts, policymakers and health professionals to discuss practical approaches to strengthen knowledge, skills and capacity for prevention and management of heart disease, diabetes and other cardiometabolic conditions. Such collaborative platforms are important to align education and training with emerging health needs and strengthen the preparedness of health professionals to address India’s growing burden of NCDs. #CardiometabolicHealth #CapacityBuilding #HealthForAll

One more well conducted trial- same result. No benefit of routine CT angiography over routine risk driven management!
Presented at #ESCCongress: In patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome without myocardial infarction, routine CT coronary angiography did not result in a lower incidence of myocardial infarction or death from a cardiac cause than standard care. Parents of children #below #fouryears will now have to be more #cautious about giving them combination medicines for #cold symptoms, with the Centre restricting the manufacture, sale and distribution of all fixed-dose combinations (#FDCs) containing #chlorpheniraminemaleate and #phenylephrinehydrochloride. The government has said these combinations may pose risks to children below four and that safer alternatives are available. Manufacturers have been ordered to carry a prominent warning on the drug label, package insert and promotional material stating: “Fixed Dose Combination shall not be used in children below four years of age.” @timesofindia @MoHFW_INDIA

Over 50,000 unidentified bodies are recovered every year and 4.84 lakh people were reported missing in 2023. UMID (उम्मीद) is India's first national DNA database and identification portal for missing persons and unidentified dead bodies. It analyses photographs, anthropometry, tattoos or marks, clothing and DNA profiles to help identify unknown bodies. Developed by the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, AIIMS, New Delhi in collaboration with ICMR, UMID connects centres across the country so that unidentified bodies and missing persons can be reunited with their families. #UMID #AIIMSNewDelhi #MissingPersons #ForensicMedicine

In Parliament today, I spoke on the “cut money” arrangement between some doctors and diagnostic centres/ pathology labs. Diagnostic centres call it "marketing expense." Doctors call it "referral commission." All gets added to Patient's hospital bill. A silent transaction that isn't about your treatment. It's about who referred you. Watch this before your next medical test.

Is a routine Heart CT scan really necessary for everyone? 🫀🔍 While Heart CT Angiography is a vital diagnostic tool, routine screening in healthy individuals can often cause unnecessary anxiety without adding real health benefits. In a recent feature, Dr. Ambuj Roy, Professor of Cardiology at AIIMS New Delhi, shares essential takeaways: - Selective, Not Universal: Best reserved for individuals with specific symptoms like chest pain. - Prevents Unnecessary Anxiety: Minor, non-threatening findings often trigger fear without changing outcomes. - Blockage ≠ Immediate Surgery: Most stable conditions are best managed with medication and lifestyle changes. - Focus on Proven Prevention: BP and diabetes control, a balanced diet, exercise, and avoiding tobacco yield the best protection. #HeartHealth #Cardiology #PreventiveCare

#Heart #CTscans are increasingly being promoted as a way to detect blocked arteries early, particularly after reports of sudden cardiac deaths in young people. But should healthy people get the test as part of a routine health check-up? Dr Ambuj Roy, Professor of Cardiology at AIIMS, New Delhi, explains when the scan is useful, when it is unnecessary, and why using it in the wrong people can sometimes do more harm than good. @drambujroy @timesofindia @aiims_newdelhi @MoHFW_INDIA @JPNadda
