I rlly hate to run defense especially cus I 1000% agree BHVR fucked up and deserves the backlash they're getting, but it's kind of crazy ppl seem to expect them to be like "WE FIRED MANDYTALK FOR WHAT SHE DID!" straight up, as if that'd be a professional thing to post ever

Nothing Bundt Cakes pisses me off. I guess it’s a play on the phrase “nothing but cakes” but that’s not a phrase people commonly use so it’s just insane. It’s like abstracting from an abstraction. It’s totally up its own ass.
Microsoft Word acts like you're gonna unleash Wannacry onto your computer if you "enable editing" on a file you downloaded off Canvas
In 10 years when Gen Z fully undergoes millennialification we’ll have facecam ukelele songs on AmericaTok mostly comprised of the lyric “Bear was the villain in obsession”
Obviously not the point of this post but the thing the kid articulated always perplexed me. During lockdown drills they'd go LOCKDOWN and put covers over the windows and we'd all have to huddle up in a corner. They'd say the idea is to fool the shooter. Wouldn't they know???
Kid: “If there’s ever a school shooter, I’m jumping out the damn window and running.”
Me: “You can’t just do that. You’re supposed to follow the lockdown instructions.”
Kid: “You know who else knows those instructions? THE SHOOTER. They know where we hide, how we lock the doors, and how we’re told to stay quiet. I’m telling you right now. If something happens, I’m OUT THE WINDOW.”
Me: Just standing there, realizing this child has thought about this scenario far more than any child ever should have to.
And honestly? How am I supposed to argue with a kid who has already had to think through a plan to survive a school shooting?
These are children. They should be worrying about homework, video games, friendships, and what they’re having for lunch. Not calculating escape routes in case someone comes into their school with a gun.
I hate these conversations. I hate that they’re necessary. And I hate that for so many kids, this isn’t some distant, unthinkable possibility. It’s something they’ve rehearsed in their heads.
Children should be learning how to live, not constantly preparing for how to survive. 💔
