People understand that you can actually look these things up right
One thing I’ll say is you can clearly see a frustration from Scottie Barnes with Immanuel Quickley and his inability to get him the ball in opportune spots when he believes he is open. I’ve had my personal critiques about Scottie Barnes and his screening not being the greatest, but there are still countless times he’s slipping and open or in the dunker or just filling lanes properly or simply sealing guys and looked off by IQ. I don’t know how this issue gets resolved tbh. A lot of your issues in the halfcourt are because these two don’t click like they should. It’s mainly because IQ can’t seem to make the correct pass when it’s there and it’s there countless times throughout the game.
Kawhi will help a ton in drawing attention and giving guys more space to operate, but it can only mask the horrendous decision making of IQ for so long. He played a relatively good first half, but I could count atleast like 3 times minimum when he created an advantage with him making the incorrect read and basically killing his own advantage generated.
The turnovers have been an issue from Scottie Barnes to start this season. Just careless and sloppy with the ball and not as crisp with his passing. That I’m not to worried about because a lot of them are just routine passes and lack of focus atm resulting in turnovers.
The IQ situation is a major problem though and I’m not sure I have as much optimism there
The whole critique is "I wanted him to make a different read and I remember his mistakes more than anybody else's" but until that translates into impact it's just a lame internet pile on because nobody wants to address the real problems
There is almost zero chance that they make this move without an additional salary dump. I think they'd already be close to the 2028 tax threshold at 10 players
And if they salary dump IQ they would then have zero starter-level guards or wings on the entire roster
Teams are less willing than ever to just throw big contracts at a problem. We just saw Jaylen Brown essentially get salary dumped after a top 6 MVP finish, All-NBA season in the middle of his prime. And the Raptors were never a throw money at the problem team to begin with.
My take on that game is even if you got peak Jakob you're still losing with your franchise player only giving you 17-6-6 especially with those lazy turnovers
Jak wasn't good but a center upgrade isn't turning that around
If we do end up in that situation it probably means there's a distribution of wealth that no longer requires a large taxpayer funded safety net to keep people from dying
Jokic drawing that rip through foul after the discourse on Scottie's whistle is funny
That's the kind of thing Scottie doesn't do(because nobody cares if he shoots) and it's why he doesn't get to the line as a perimeter guy. You're getting a live demo pay attention
Offense is still a bit disjointed - CMB tries to seal his matchup at the same time Scottie starts his drive into that space
Results in a bucket anyway but things will get easier when they're all on the same page
