THREAD: I have been on the health beat for 12 years and @KHNews for 10 of those, and for the 3rd time in that period a close family member is facing a very serious illness. 1/
USAID went into "the woodchipper", per @elonmusk who says there are "no names" associated w/ deaths from that action. @secRubio says no children died on his watch. Here are 3 children, 3 names, 3 deaths. @nprnews npr.org/2026/07/17/g-s1-1336…

NEW: Powell had a list that included names of lawmakers who he thought would have his back after finally taking on Trump following a criminal investigation by the Justice department.
The Fed chair's belief that he would find a groundswell of support was not an idle thought. It was the product of years of deliberate relationship-building on Capitol Hill since Trump first elevated him to lead the central bank.
The outpouring of support ended up going well beyond that initial list.

NEW: Kash Patel embraced Trump’s attack-the-attacker style with bellowing brio during four high-volume, low-info hours on the Hill on Tuesday.
He wasn't there to answer questions.
He was there to brawl.

A defining characteristics of Trump II has been to take actions that have never been taken -- or even publicly contemplated -- then casting them as routine, commonsensical or supported by tradition.
Broadcast TV stations have always been required by their licenses to operate in the public interest—that includes serving the needs of their local communities.
And broadcasters have long retained the right to not air national programs that they believe are inconsistent with the public interest, including their local communities’ values.
I am glad to see that many broadcasters are responding to their viewers as intended.

Scoop! via @selenasd @BrianMannADK Just days ago CDC grantees heard they would only get half their appropriated funding for this year -- program killing news for some. Today, @NPR reporting confirms all of the dollars will be disbursed. npr.org/sections/shots-healt…
