It’s really fun how writers are supposed to just know that their work is beloved and being shared without readers actually doing anything to let them know that. And asking for readers to let writers know they loved it is ruining fandom.

This fic will be posted on AO3 once the server maintenance ends. In the meantime, you can read it on Ellipsus! 🔗 ellipsus.com/read/5cOPv9wROo…

If I'd known that AO3 was going to go down for weeks, I would have updated the Google Drive folder of all my Sonic fics... but here's the link anyway! (🔗⬇️) If your favourite fic isn't here, then leave a comment, and I'll hook you up with a link to read it on Ellipsus 👍

We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/

fic authors sometimes spend years writing a story idk i think it’s fine if they would like some kudos or a comment here and there

"nobody is making friends on ao3" what an odd thing to say
doll possession (@ardy_public) profile picturedoll possession@ardy_publicNov 3
Replying to @ardy_public
and it is that nobody is making friends on ao3, no community is created on ao3, because that isn't what ao3 is *for*. ao3 is a place to upload fic. until tumblr nuked nsfw content, there were *always* spaces that existed to build community. discord kinda is that now but also not.

general question: what kind of comments do authors like to receive? i hesitate to leave comments bc i normally just say variations of "i enjoyed this a lot!! :D" or "this was great! looking forward to the next chapter" if it's chaptered is that too short? do i add more?

i think a lot of conversations about fanfic “engagement” get really disingenuous very quickly. like yeah, obviously you shouldn’t be writing ONLY for engagement. but why are people getting so up in arms about writers hoping for comments or kudos on something they worked hard on?
