Both the theory and […] empirical evidence supported the premise that increasing the supply of housing reduces sales prices and rents or moderates their growth and therefore makes housing more affordable to low- and moderate-income families. furmancenter.org/publication/su…

just heard someone say "people are more important than the economy" and it occurred to me that some people genuinely believe that others care about the economy because they like numbers going up and not because it drives living standards for the population

It's odd to me how China gets (rightfully) mocked so much for having the whole country share one timezone, but we don't extend the same treatment to continental Europe. Spain, France, and the Benelux countries are just blatantly in the wrong timezone.

I had a premonition that he's not actually a racist chud but just someone who's really into national anthems/patriotic songs of many countries. It's just that in this case, he might not understand the gravity of the song's context. How do I know this? I used to be like this guy!

Ironically, in Lithuania (and I'm sure many other eastern bloc countries) it's in large part bc of the Soviet Union that there is no existing socialist organizing tradition. In Soviet times, communist organizing meant institutional state politics, led by career politicians.

Every Dictator is broadly popular & answers to an elite collective, or else your regime would cease. You’re describing dictatorship. You can have good dictators, but your mind—flooded with liberalism—wishes to justify it in the terms established by liberals.

"stop the brother wars! Ukranians and Russians both just want to live together! Ukraine should just give up no one wants to fight anymore!" And then the reality is that ukranians are so driven to defend their country they will fight with no arms and no legs
Ukrainian veteran Ruslan Knysh is just 20 years old. Still, he continues to defend his country after losing both arms and legs in a Russian drone attack. Today, he is training to become a drone pilot by using a customized chin controller to operate unmanned ground vehicles. abcnews.link/H2WKOYt

The Balkan mind cannot conceive of not wanting to drink coffee at 10PM
You can learn a surprising amount about a European country by asking one question: When does the café close? Europe shares coffee. Not café culture.
