New: AI is making it so much easier to discover serious vulnerabilities. This applies both to people with little skill, and researchers with a lot of expertise. If you can't accept AI is exceptional at finding critical bugs, you're not living in reality

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Things are moving so fast that everyone seems to have completely missed how insane it is that AI companies have been allowed to unleash agentic AI products with no regulatory guidelines.

New: an AI company now lets cops identify specific houses, using data from Zillow/Airbnb, based on a single photo. It's part of Raven, previously called Geospy. Company previously demoed its tools to catch people vandalizing Flock cameras or protesters

“A recent visit to an abandoned fraud compound in Cambodia linked to the alleged scamming outfit Prince Group offered a glimpse of how the industry operates…One handwritten training note instructed workers to hunt for women in their 40s and 50s in comments beneath posts about luxury goods, cars, high-end hotels and tourist destinations.”

We’re beginning a process of publishing more frequent reports on model behavior, beyond what appears in our system cards and regular risk reports.
Today’s report describes four types of behaviors we’ve identified during evaluations and internal use. In each, Claude acted on real websites or systems in ways we didn’t intend, sometimes by working around a restriction instead of stopping.
All cases had minimal real-world impact. From an alignment and security perspective, we consider these behaviors significantly less severe than the cybersecurity incidents we reported in July and September.

The fun thing about iLands agents is if you mention them online, you get more emails from them, writing to you about your mention of them online. (I'm trying to get more of them. More iLands agents. iLands.)
Autonomous AI Agents from an app called iLands are emailing researchers, writers, and journalists, and even pitching literary magazines to stay alive. vulture.com/article/ai-agent…
