I want to go back in time to when I rode a bicycle to get around. I drank water out of a water hose, after it cooled off from the suns heat. To playing football, softball and baseball in a field. Using boards, old tires, whatever we could find for bases. Wooden bats, there were no aluminum ones back then. Climbing trees, playing chase, hide and seek, kick ball, dodge ball. Hanging out with our friends till it got dark. Being the channel changer, the grass cutter. Getting into fights, then becoming friends. Being afraid of my parents, when I did wrong. Playing on the railroad tracks. Sneaking into Tip Top Bakery and Canada Dry, getting day old cakes, and drinks, never causing any damage. Walking to and from school till I was old enough to work in the afternoon. Drive-in theaters, going out to eat meant Krystal Hamburgers on a Friday night! Milk shakes from Dairy Queen. Teenage dances, cruising up and down Main St. on Friday and Saturday night! Respecting our parents, our grandparents, our friends, our elders, the police our service members. The teachers that taught us and punished us when we misbehaved. Supper at night or late in the afternoon. Dinner was our mid day meal back in those day! Men held doors open for women, women responded with a thank you, the man, you’re welcome! So many more things that we got to do. Things we learned, we loved and cared for everyone. When a neighbor was down on their luck or sick, we helped take care of them. Took them to doctor appointments. Phone them daily,not check on them. We bought things we could afford, not always what we wanted, family needs were first! It’s all fading away! We’ve become an Nation of video gamers, self centered people, non respectful people! People full of hate, people that are too lazy to work for what they want. People that think it’s all magically going to fall out of the sky for them. People that are afraid to express their beliefs, because someone might do them harm! Yeah, I’d love to go back and live, live like an American! Unafraid, loyal to my Country and its people! Back to when we knew our politicians were about making Americans lives better, no matter what it took! We live in the greatest Country on Earth! Too bad we can’t return to a time, when every American citizen thought so too! God Bless you all! God Bless America!
