Canada : No more economic integration with the USA. "They would be our jailers "- Peter Donolo, The Globe and Mail "Our future as a country does not lie inside a North American fortress. Especially one in which those holding the key have proven themselves belligerent, untrustworthy and hopelessly corrupt. They would not be our partners; they would be our jailers." Worst of all, the pressure to harmonize our country’s foreign and domestic policies with the United States in “Fortress North America” would be irresistible – and result in our national self-erasure. "Public health care? Publicly owned utilities? Made-in-Canada environmental, labour or even language laws? Our tight controls on election spending? Our public funding for Canadian arts and culture? All “unfair advantages” or “barriers” that, you can be sure, would be challenged with the maximum power and might of U.S. authorities." "As Mr. Carney said last year: “The Americans want our resources, our water, our land, our country. Think about it. If they succeed they would destroy our way of life.” #cdnpoli #onpoli #polqc

Mulcair: I was a bit shocked to hear Pierre Poilievre mumble his disapproval [of restoring 24 Sussex] ... But the same Pierre Poilievre ... lives at Stornaway with its dozens of rooms. And it is completely free for Mr. Poilievre and his family. And they're well taken care of in there.

Can someone remind me why all of the video cameras monitoring Jeffrey Epstein‘s jail cell went down the same moment the guard on duty just happened to fall asleep, creating a perfect window for somebody to murder the one man who had all the dirt on Donald J Trump?

To be conservative is, at its core, to conserve, to preserve what is worthy of being passed on. Our institutions are not monuments to governments of the day; they are the inheritance of generations and the foundation of those yet to come. Restoring 24 Sussex is not about politics. It is about safeguarding a piece of Canada’s history, our democracy and the enduring institutions that define our nation.

The Democratic Party must return to the American people the wealth and power that the obscenely rich have taken from them. This should be the core Democratic message. It targets the affordability crisis, corruption, corporate welfare, and crony capitalism. It shows what must be done.

James Robison What Joyce Carol Oates wrote to Elon Musk on Twitter. I am told it rattled him. I love it. “So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates – scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the ‘most wealthy person in the world.’”

Congress actually passed legislation to DO SOMETHING about the housing crisis. But now Trump is acting like a child. We're going to keep fighting to get this done.

We have a new message for Democrats: attack attack attack. Trump is corrupt, he’s butchered the economy, and his DOJ operates like mob lawyers. And every voter knows it. So stop looking backward. Stop with the endless focus groups. This isn't complicated. He’s weak. Finish him.

Happy Father’s Day Age 5 – Dad knows everything! Age 7 – Dad knows a lot. Age 10 – Maybe Dad doesn’t know everything? Age 12 – Dad doesn’t know anything. Age 14 – Dad lost his mind! Age 16 – I can’t take Dad seriously. Age 18 – What does Dad even know? Age 22 – Dad talks nonsense! Age 24 – I know more than Dad! Age 26 – Turns out, Dad actually knows a few things. Age 30 – I should probably ask Dad about this… Age 40 – How did Dad make it through all of that?! Age 45 – Dad was always right. Age 50 – If only Dad were here… I’d have so much to learn.

U.S. Farm Bankruptcies Surge +46% as Fertilizer Costs Squeeze Farmers: The American Farm Bureau Federation reported 315 Chapter 12 bankruptcy filings in 2025, up from 216 in 2024 and the third consecutive annual increase. The Midwest got hit hardest with 121 filings, a +70% jump. The Southeast followed with 105, up +69%. Together, those two regions accounted for more than two-thirds of every farm bankruptcy in the country. Fertilizer prices are pouring gasoline on the fire. Urea, the most widely used nitrogen fertilizer on the planet, has ripped +87% year-to-date and trades near $720 a tonne. For corn growers who depend on nitrogen, this is a dire situation. Many farmers are reporting they will cut the amount of fertilizer they use, shift from corn toward less nitrogen-dependent soybeans, or just take the yield loss. Farms are under pressure.

It only gets worse as details are revealed. The runway at Billy Bishop would need 900 meters of new landmass on Toronto’s waterfront for jets. To put this one in perspective, the height of the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa, is only 829.8 meters.

Finally, the United States is waking up 🚨 Representative Ted Lieu just drew a crystal clear red line, and it matters more than most people seem to realize. “If any military member, from the generals on down, participates in using force against Greenland without congressional authorization, they are following illegal orders.” That is not rhetoric. That is the law. And he is putting everyone on notice. This is how a constitutional system is supposed to work. Civilian control. Congressional authority. No freelance militarism because a president feels impulsive or humiliated or bored. Orders that violate the Constitution are not orders. They are illegal commands, and obedience is not a defense. What I like here is the timing. This is not said after the damage is done. It is a preemptive warning. A flare shot into the sky saying: think very carefully before you cross this line. For years, too many people in Washington treated norms as vibes and laws as suggestions. This is a reminder that the system still has teeth if people are willing to use them. And that responsibility does not magically disappear when you put on a uniform. More of this please. Clear boundaries. Plain language. Zero ambiguity. That is how you stop bad ideas before they turn into irreversible disasters.

For the record. This was not unanimous. I was muted on the call and not allowed to speak or voice my opposition to this  move. Also for the record, this was not on the agenda. This was not consensus. This is censorship.
I have just been informed that the highly respected Board of the Kennedy Center, some of the most successful people from all parts of the world, have just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center, because of the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building. Not only from the standpoint of its reconstruction, but also financially, and its reputation. Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The building is statutorily named the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Congress did not give the board the authority to change the name. law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/20…

The Kennedy Center was named after my uncle, President John F Kennedy. It was named in his honor. He was a man who was interested in the arts, interested in culture, interested in education, language, history. He brought the arts into the White House, and he and my Aunt Jackie amplified the arts, celebrated the arts, stood up for the arts and artists. It is beyond comprehension that this sitting president has sought to rename this great memorial dedicated to President Kennedy. It is beyond wild that he would think adding his name in front of President Kennedy’s name is acceptable. It is not. Next thing perhaps he will want to rename JFK Airport, rename the Lincoln Memorial, the Trump Lincoln Memorial. The Trump Jefferson Memorial. The Trump Smithsonian. The list goes on. Can we not see what is happening here? C’mon, my fellow Americans! Wake up! This is not dignified. This is not funny. This is way beneath the stature of the job. It’s downright weird. It’s obsessive in a weird way. Just when you think somone can’t stoop any lower, down they go…
