When someone tells you they have cancer, the instinct is often to find the “right” thing to say…
You don’t need the perfect words. You need to be present.
Many respond with… “I knew someone who had that.” “My aunt went through the same thing.” “You need to stay positive.” “Everything happens for a reason.”
Those words are usually offered with love but in that moment, the person sitting in front of you may simply need to know that you see them.
Try 👇🏽
“Thank you for telling me.” “I’m sorry you’re facing this.” “What would be helpful right now?” “What would you like me to keep private?”
Listening can be one of the greatest gifts we give another person. You don’t have to fix it. You don’t have to explain it. You don’t have to make the moment more comfortable. Just stay present long enough to hear what they actually need. That matters. ❤️

.@DaleMurphy3 should be in the HALL OF FAME
Dale Murphy played in a #Braves' record 740 consecutive games from September 26, 1981, through July 8, 1986. He averaged 154 games played in a decade that included the 1981 season in which 55 games were lost due to a work stoppage.
No one in MLB played more games in the 1980s.

People think you’re okay, but you’re exhausted.
People think you’re fine, but you’re just about holding it together.
People see your smile, but they don’t see the heaviness behind your eyes.
They see your strength, but not the cost of carrying it.
They admire your calm, but don’t hear the noise in your head.
They applaud your resilience, but don’t ask about your recovery.
They think you’re busy living, but you’re quietly surviving.
Because when you’re the strong one, people forget to check in.
So here’s your reminder:
You’re allowed to take a break. You’re allowed to rest.
