1). There's one element of Hook that's always fascinated me:
Only one shot in the movie was actually filmed in London, and even that is covered in a matte painting of snow and animated snowflakes. It was probably shot for the film on a Vistavision camera for ILM.
But why?

I'm not claiming Disclosure Day to be a masterpiece, but some of the criticism is excessive and reveals a basic lack of media literacy. Someone is recalling a traumatic childhood event where they were visited by strange creatures and it's set in a fairy tale cottage where the CGI looks weird? What do you think that might mean? Does it mean the studio couldn't afford good CGI, or was it trying to tell you something about the way we process traumatic childhood events which we don't understand? Use your brain a little. A lot of the criticism is from people simply refusing to engage with the film on its level and being outraged that they don't understand what it's trying to say. In some ways, you have to have a pretty high level of esoteric alien knowledge to really get all the meanings.

‘CINEMATIC THERAPY SESSION’
Great, important observation by @BilgeEbiri about Margaret’s reconstructed childhood home in Disclosure Day. In his review he mentions a crucial scene in Hook. It also reminded me of scenes in A.I., Ready Player One and The BFG.
All poignant.
1/20
Also, me on the ending of DISCLOSURE DAY. (Spoilers, heh)

"It's snowing!!!" If it's Christmas 1991 in London, you might be on your way to Neverland. ILM contributed an array of visual effects to Steven Spielberg's classic, Hook, including this view of a wintery scene in the city on the Thames.
Steven Spielberg’s words don’t close the door on Hook; they leave room to imagine that the film could still be revisited one day, seen again with distance, and perhaps appreciated in a new way by Spielberg himself.

What if Hook was never shown the way it was meant to be?
Next year will mark the 35th anniversary of Hook.
A sincere call to Steven Spielberg: reconsider Hook and restore the original vision that inspired it from the start.

Two years ago, I had bought a @hookmovie 35mm trailer, but I don't have a 35mm projector. My son Elliot and I were invited to watch the trailer on the silver screen in Antwerp's Cinema Lumière. We even got a behind the scenes tour. Awesome!

My gf got me tix to Hook in concert for Chanukah. It was brilliant! Caroline Goodall/Moira spoke before it started. I was ready to step in & perform it if the orchestra hadn’t turned up. Was prepared to hum/whistle/dum-doom my way thru it. The orchestra did a good job, tho.
