Aloneness is light tattooed in slats across concrete, oxygen sucked from air, the right to breathe extinguished. Even the baby quits the womb — hushed too soon. – Gayle J. Greenlea

WATERQUELL by Helen Laycock A cliff-clattered pebble, I plummet, unveiling the white noise of windscratch, separating silk-seamed seaskin, descending the darkbelly-drop, balming boot-scuff, feathering fissure, sloughing the millefeuille of millennia. Navy-clamped, waves are dampened here; sound and ocean sleep and I am deepbound in blue-lamp silence.
