and that’s why a woman with baby bangs and a vivacious heart should be elected mayor, NOT an evil bald man

essential reading! free online!
Unravelling MAiD (linked in the thread & available online for free) is a required read authored by field & patient experts. It’s a critical examination of Canada’s death program through the lens of law, policy, ethics, disability rights & more. I highly encourage you to read it

I think relationships give ppl social credibility that single ppl have to establish individually. Being chosen is treated as evidence that you're desirable, stable, capable of commitment, etc. So ppl outsource their sense of adulthood to someone else's willingness to be with them
I think the fact that so many of our signs of maturity and adulthood revolving around relationships is why a lot of people get into relationships to begin with even if the relationship isn’t healthy for them be because they want to be seen as grownups.

I think calling small acts of care the “bare minimum” also makes us less attentive to the person doing them. We become so concerned w/ whether we're entitled to something that we stop noticing the thought behind it & being taken for granted is how a lot of tenderness disappears.
I don't like when small kindnesses, especially relationships (friendship/partners) are called basic or bare minimum. It minimises how beautiful care is in the small details.

Seems kinda trite to be using the "If BC NDP don't win it's going to hurt X groups of people." argument with not a word about who the @bcndp's been hurting through systemic human rights violations & violence. "But it'll be worse!" Y'all don't even care about people DYING lol.

If Torontian don’t remember or know about the Walkerton water disaster that killed multiple people and left many others with lifetime defects, they may want to do some research before they vote for Brad Bradford and his water privatization idea.
