The only reason “ever-increasing doses” is a problem is because the drug war makes these meds inaccessible (e.g. DEA APQs). The fact is that opioids are some of the cheapest drugs on the planet, they only have value because they’re mostly illegal.
Bulk oxycodone cost pennies/kg.
There are hundreds of types of drugs that people will be ‘on for life’ esp senior citizens. List is too long to begin listing examples.
This is not fatal damaging catastrophic illegal immoral or criminal. The ‘you’ll be on these for life’ is an empty nothingburger statement that improves nothing and only intimidates a patient.
There is no clear evidence that patients on rx opioid pain meds will require ever-increasing doses to treat pain. Millions of pain patients have pain treated with the same/similar dose for years and decades.
These pat silly statements are standard issue programming and misinformation about rx opioid pain meds. If these are the worst things about these medications (and they are fiction) then rest assured they are safe and effective.

So this is a big development.
the 311 app, which has always been Public Works, is now apparently being routed into SFPD's mass surveillance control center.
Which is actually a private enterprise of billionaire Chris Larsen, a name most people don't know, but should.
You gave us feedback, and we listened.
Earlier this summer, we shared how you can use the 311 app to report drug activity in your neighborhood. You noted gaps in the app's protocol.
So the city took action and updated the software for the first time to make sure drug activity reports are accurately tracked, reported, and routed to the right departments.
Apps like 311 are a digital portal for the city to hear from you. Responsive government means listening to you, and continuously improving our systems to meet your needs.

All this accomplishes is make people more desperate. “Treatment” is the most psychotic field in the whole drug war. A whole industry based on concern trolling; they want the worst for you.
Excellent example of how good propaganda is subtle. Read uncritically, these statements are effectively the same. Under a critical lens with the requisite knowledge, it’s clear what they’re doing. Today, any discussion about opioids triggers people to scream about drs & Sacklers.
