This is the grouse I have with so many of my liberal friends who are not happy with the current government at the center. These people are just wilfully blind to the blatant Hinduphobic discourse that is present in all of media and particularly gets prominence whenever Hindu festivals are happening. They barely speak up. It appears so many of these folks themselves want to see Hinduism whither and die down. Hinduism's presence in public culture is a big turn off for them. Ergo their hate for a particular political party is just a cover for their hate for Hindu culture en masse looks like. They are ready to side with this blatant Hinduphobic discourse so long as it brings down the political party they don't like. Just shows their moral compass more than anything else.

How many people with links to Islamic organizations did you proscribe and sign a pledge against @SunitaSunitaV along with your favorite Abdul? Oh wait, you created an entire organization to attack Hindus and spread blood libel against them; wearing the niqab of a Hindu name.
This is a pure lie. The pledge promises to not take money from the RSS and the movement that killed Gandhi. It involves a few dozen families in America who can be shown using public records to be connected to the RSS through occupying leadership positions or financial ties. #HindusAgainstHindutva #SayNoToHate

So then naturally you would agree that it IS worth looking into what ties El-sayed’s family members have to MB as well what links CAIR and ISNA have? Because you’re doing this on principle, right? Not just Hindumisia and kissing the Indian opposition’s ass?

A "movement" that killed Gandhi. Really? It was an individual act. By your logic, the entire Democratic Party should be dissolved, considering the number of attempted and actual political assassinations by people on the left—from President Trump to Charlie Kirk. And by that same logic why do we have the MB stooge running for the Senate? How many people have the MB killed through their activities? grokipedia.com/page/Rashtriy…

I know Sunita is nervous about that little stunt they pulled, that is backfiring now. They’re even hiding the signatories now. But we have receipts. The “pledge” specifically linked to the radical left wing handle @thecaravanindia, that lists over a 100 Hindu American organizations as “RSS linked.” Not just “a few families.” That @AbdulElSayed @RoKhanna @RepJayapal @HamawyForNJ signed the pledge remains a scandal for Hindu American campaign donors.
This is a pure lie. The pledge promises to not take money from the RSS and the movement that killed Gandhi. October 29, 1618. Walter Raleigh asked to inspect the axe before they used it on him, ran his thumb along the edge, and said it was sharp medicine that would cure all his diseases. Then the executioner hesitated, and Raleigh told him to strike. He was being killed for a fifteen year old treason conviction that everyone knew was rigged, revived to satisfy the Spanish ambassador over something Raleigh's son had done in South America. Raleigh's career under Elizabeth I was the Elizabethan age in one man. He put down a Catholic rising in Munster, became Captain of the Queen's Guard in 1587, and worked as a privateer, which is the polite term for a pirate with a royal licence. In 1591 he secretly married Bess Throckmorton, one of Elizabeth's ladies in waiting, which the Queen regarded as a personal betrayal, and both of them went to the Tower for a month. He bought his way back with the capture of the Madre de Deus in 1592, a Portuguese carrack whose cargo was worth a staggering amount, and in 1595 he was commissioned to go and find El Dorado. He went to Guiana, found no golden city, and wrote a book about it that was more persuasive than the evidence warranted. That book is why he kept believing in it for the next twenty years. Then Elizabeth died, and James I came south from Scotland with one overriding foreign policy goal, which was peace with Spain. Raleigh was the most famous Spain-hating privateer in England. He was the opposite of everything the new reign wanted. In 1603 he was accused of involvement in a plot to put Arbella Stuart on the throne. The trial was a disgrace even by the standards of the time. The main evidence was a confession from Lord Cobham, who retracted it and then re-made it, and Raleigh was denied the right to have Cobham brought into court to face him. The prosecutor Edward Coke abused him from the bench. Raleigh defended himself so well that the trial started turning public opinion in his favour, which is a rare thing for a man already convicted in everyone's mind. He was condemned, then reprieved at the last moment, and spent the next thirteen years in the Tower. And that is where he did the work he should be remembered for. He had rooms, his wife and son with him at times, a garden and a laboratory, and he wrote The History of the World, an enormous unfinished book that got as far as 130 BC and was a bestseller for a century. It was one of Oliver Cromwell's recommended books for his son. He also kept telling anybody who would listen that there was a gold mine in Guiana. In 1617, James was broke. So he let Raleigh out to go and find it, with one absolute condition. Do not fight the Spanish. The expedition was a catastrophe. Disease wrecked the crews. Raleigh fell ill and stayed in Trinidad while his son Walter led the party up the Orinoco. They attacked the Spanish settlement of San Thomé. Walter Raleigh the younger was killed in it, along with Spanish settlers. So Raleigh came home with no gold, no son, and a war crime against a country his king was trying to befriend. The Spanish ambassador, the Count of Gondomar, who had enormous influence at James's court, demanded his death. And here is the mechanism, which is the bit that makes it so cold. James did not need a new trial. Raleigh was still a condemned man under the 1603 sentence, which had only ever been suspended. All James had to do was let the original sentence take effect. He was executed for a treason he almost certainly did not commit, in order to punish him for something he had not personally done. On October 29, 1618, at Old Palace Yard in Westminster, he turned up extravagantly dressed and in evidently good humour. He gave a long speech denying the treason. He asked to see the axe and made the line about sharp medicine. He told the crowd that the heart was what mattered, not which way his head lay on the block. When the executioner froze, he said strike, man, strike. It took two blows. His wife Bess took his head home and kept it. In 1660 it was found and buried at St Mary's Church in West Horsley, where his son Carew is also buried. His body is under the chancel of St Margaret's, Westminster, next to the Abbey. James got his Spanish peace, briefly. Within four years his son was in Madrid failing to arrange a Spanish marriage and England was sliding toward the war with Spain that Raleigh had spent his whole life arguing for. The last thing he ever wrote, reportedly in his Bible the night before, was a short poem ending on the hope that the Lord would raise him up.

Puja, things don't add up. You talked of “Basic rule of consent” but did you take consent of Hindu women who celebrate karwachauth before debating it? You said change and reforms in Muslim women's lives should happen from “within” but karwachauth criticism can barge into Hindu women's lives because you are a Hindu? At one hand we talk of secularism and the other we have Hindu women Muslim women. Every year, as the season arrives and it becomes a trending topic, Hindu liberal feminists specifically create content to criticise #KarwaChauthVrat. Nobody asked them but they still express their opinion on it but when it comes to hijab burqa they avoid criticism either in the name of “charity begins at home” or “I don’t wear it so why should i criticise it” or some other excuses. The hypocrisy is so obvious that it pisses off the right wing for good reasons. If one is a public commentator, a content creator and a feminist then it’s their utmost duty to critique all kinds of patriarchy without excuses or justification. Otherwise, leave all festivals alone and respect choice. In my opinion, there’s no such thing as choice. All choices are results of conditioning. We must criticise the whole idea of “choice feminism” but this critique can’t stop at Muslim doors.

We have been doing that enough, but I go by the basic rules of "consent" the changes and reform has to happen from inside there, being a non-muslim woman my protest about burqa means nothing because I have never worn that

Ms. Polgreen should think about why there's so little stuff by foreign writers published in America in the first place (let alone writing ON America, god forbid the heathens speak and actually get heard!) The problem lies in your media's gatekeeping rather than our lack of interest frankly .... As an aside, HuffPost used to be the one place which published people shut out by snobs at NYT WaPo etc. - until she joined as editor in 2017 and shut our lone platforms in America down in 2018 with the weak excuse that loud voices were drowning deserving ones or something (apologies if this decision was not yours, Ms. Polgreen ... do say so if it wasn't). My first piece in Huffpo was in 2008- a critique of NYT WP BBC etc. coverage of the Mumbai massacres of 26/11. What has changed since then for the better? What use if Huffpost now writes about Texas Republicans anti-Indian hate after silencing us? Or NYT, which gaslit students talking about Hinduphobia as "modi factions" (Harvard Prof Jasanoff Oped) as if Hinduphobia isn't real regardless of who talks about it? Selective anti-racism is racism. @wadhwa @sreemoytalukdar @RajeevSrinivasa @IndiaToday
This writeup of my recent reporting from India made me think: I'd love to read a piece by an Indian journalist who lived in the US from 2009-2013, has since followed its politics and culture obsessively, and returned after nearly a decade's absence! indiatoday.in/india/story/ly…

Being the LoP @RahulGandhi, I suggest you refrain from politicising every issue. Also, casually labelling commercial and legal matters as criminal is unacceptable. You have repeatedly decried the successes of Indian industry & our entrepreneurs. Now, are you trying to incite our business leaders to join you in spreading distrust & toxicity? For decades, your party had smothered the spirit of the Indian entrepreneurs under the stifling ‘Licence-Quota Raj’ & inflicted poverty on crores of Indians. On the other hand, our government led by PM @narendramodi values the Indian industry as job creators & drivers of economic growth. Our policies have been tailored to enable enterprise, support industry and encourage investment. Political parties, leaders, governments and institutions share an equal responsibility to support our industry, strengthen our farmers and secure the future of our youth. Therefore, it is essential to engage constructively rather than casting baseless aspersions to suit your narrow political motives. The Constitution of India ensures justice to all its citizens & our Honourable Courts are entrusted with upholding it. History is witness to the shoddy manner in which you, your party and the PMs belonging to your party have demeaned the judiciary. So Rahul ji, refrain from seeing ghosts everywhere.
Tata is being criminally destroyed, and no business leader dares say a word. How long will you stay silent? Until they own you? Indian business is not Modi and Shah's plaything. You lack courage. We don't. We will ensure justice for these crimes.

This is what Hinduphobia is. It’s not just what happens in Bangladesh and Pakistan but this… erasure. Hey you moron, zero is a Hindu legacy. Even the Arabs acknowledged that.
I'll give RFK Jr. a 0 for this, using Arabic numerals, or perhaps a "zero," noting that the English word "zero" comes from the Arabic "sifr."

Some jokes write themselves. Please let’s not kid ourselves.
The freedom of speech and expression is being taken away from lakhs of citizens across the country. This BJP government does not care about Article 14, Article 19 and Article 21 of our great Constitution. This government wants to deprive all citizens, including elected representatives, of their right to express themselves freely. We extend our support to students, youth, social media users, vloggers, YouTubers, and independent digital platforms. We demand that they must be allowed to express themselves freely. Full strength to them as we, all together, fight this dangerous trend of censorship. Instead of indulging in atrocities against citizens on social media, this government should focus on taking care of the North East along with ensuring the safety and security of all people across the country.

Its the "bania", ie, the money-lending class, that built the best things known to man. There wont be a Da Vinci or Michaelangelo if there was no Medici. There wont be microwave radar w/o Alfred Loomis. Antartic expeditions wud be rather poorer sans Rothschild.
"The Bania is the worst parasitic class known to history. In him,the vice of money-making is unredeemed byculture or conscience. He is like an undertaker who prospers when there is an epidemic. The only difference between the undertaker and the Banias that the undertaker does not create an epidemic while the Bania does. He does not use his money for productive purposes. He uses it to create poverty and more poverty by lending money for unproductive purposes. He lives on interest and as he is told by his religion that money-lending is the occupation prescribed to him by the divine Manu, he looks upon money-lending as both right and righteous. With the help and assistance of the Brahmin judge who is ready to decree his suits, the Bania is able to carry on his trade with the greatest ease. Interest, interest on interest, he adds on and on, and there by draws millions of families perpetually into his net. Pay him as much as he may, the debtor is always in debt. With noconscience to check him, there is no fraud, and there is no chicanery which he will not commit. His grip over the nation is complete. The whole of poor, starving, illiterate India is irredeemably mortgaged to the Bania." -What Congress and Gandhi Have Done to the Untouchables Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar

Short Story.. Once upon a time, there was a ruler called, @MamataOfficial who threw common people into jail by denying them free speech guranteed under article 19. In one instance, she even sent her police force across 5 States to capture a student. After she lost power, she started supporting free speech for Vadras and Gandhis under same article 19. And she kept blaming SIR, Vote Chori, Blah, blah for losing power..! End for her... Sorry End of story..!

One daughter. One father's death. An entire government machinery on its toes. All because she refused to surrender. In an era when protests turn violent, and public property becomes a target, one daughter chose a different path. Bhadra Keerthi. Fighting for justice for her father. No violence. No vandalism. No destruction. Just a grieving daughter. Standing tall. Refusing to kneel before the powerful. October 25. Kochi. Jayabalakrishnan closed his tea shop. He was returning home. Perhaps dreaming of tomorrow. Tomorrow never came. A speeding Mercedes-Benz, alledgdly driven by a 17-year-old, struck his scooter from behind. He died. But the story didn't end there. The boy's father was a judge. Not just any judge. An Additional District Judge, serving at the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal. The very institution meant to compensate accident victims. And his unlicensed teenage son was allegedly driving his Mercedes! Did the father know? Who gave the boy the keys? Questions demanding answers. The teenager was initially released. Later, he secured juvenile bail. And what about the father? A guardian of the very law his family now stands accused of violating? Then came a daughter. Bhadra Keerthi. She didn't burn a bus. She didn't attack the police. She didn't vandalise a street. She stood there. Like a rock. Demanding justice for her father. Her voice shook the silence. Serious charges followed. The judge was booked. Four police officers were suspended. Yet she refused to surrender. And here lies the divine irony. Bhadra = The auspicious Devi. Keerthi = Noble glory. A name echoing the fierce symbol of righteousness. Her father gave her that name. Today, she gives it meaning. Remember Mahishasura? When arrogance mistakes gentleness for weakness, Devi rises. Not to destroy the world. But to confront its injustice. Bhadra isn't fighting with weapons. Her courage is her inner Trishul. Her dignity is her Shakti. Dear Bhadra Keerthi, Your father sold tea. But he raised a warrior. He gave you life. You are giving his name glory. May Dharma prevail. May justice be served.
