A man on the radio earlier said he was cooking an all day breakfast for his tea as though he is some kind of trendy eatery. The term you were looking for is "a fry up" mate.

Wilbur Wright flying a plane for more than five minutes for the first time on 11/9/1904 is probably the closest thing to Opposite 9/11

I saw a post from a friend who was unable to go on holiday this week because they hadn't checked their passports properly but the thing that shocked me most was the cost. £5000 for a week away for a family of 4. So much money and for what?

After the Budget, millions will use online tax calculators. But there's a privacy catch: we tested the seven most popular, and every one sends your income to a server. Here's what MoneySavingExpert sends:

Simon Heffer’s review of Liz Truss’s new book Bank Job in the Telegraph. ‘Of all the books I have ever reviewed that purported to offer a serious thesis, this is without question the most deranged. If you are seeking a Christmas present for someone you really don’t like, give them a copy.’ 🎄🎅🎄🎁

It's obvious when you thing about it as you risk electrocuting anyone working on the grid otherwise
Worth knowing: if there’s a power cut in your area, your solar panels and home battery will usually stop supplying electricity, even if the sun is shining and your battery is charged. You need a system specifically designed with backup capability to keep your home powered.

I find all this talk of stock piling emergency essentials really stressy. If something terrible happens, I hope I just die instantly. I don’t want to sit under the dining table grappling with a tin of corned beef by torchlight.

The state regulates, legislates and taxes every part of the electricity supply, and compliance with all of that is a cost to the consumer. Our electricity supply would be cheaper, more efficient and reliable if left to the private sector.

The state has not controlled electricity supply since 1990. It’s privately owned and run. I fully agree with you on defence. Was selling utilities to speculators a good idea in hindsight? A complex question that one
