So, I was so excited about the Python, I didn't do a deep inspection on the other revolvers in that collection. I began inspection on the S&W Safety Hammerless and... Oh... 👀

And you thought the Instantly and Easily Win Button was a myth.
The U.S. has just announced the total isolation of Iran, in addition to the naval blockade that has been in place against Iranian ports for months. CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper has established Task Force "Iron Gate," a team of around 20 civilian and military personnel based in Tampa, Florida. Their task is to prevent Iran from using land routes and the Caspian Sea to transport advanced weapons, dual-use technology, and sanctioned materials.

It’s funny because the people who’d be like “Hatchet” is dumb kids stuff compared to Jane Eyre’ would obviously be first in line to explain why some book called like, “Mama, Why is The Easter Bunny White?” is a more essential read than Brothers Karamazov

That's the neat thing. Trump will have both.
Poll every living president: “Would you rather have ‘lost the midterms’ or ‘Iran got the bomb’ next to your name in the history books?”

He was a really rapey guy, but I was cool with it because it served my interests, but then he went against my interests and that's not cool, so now all I can see this the rapey.
I've met Russell Brand twice (I think): Once when I hosted a Guardian Live event about his book in 2014. Another time I interviewed him for The Big Issue when I was guest editing in 2015. He also gave my publishers an endorsement for my book The Establishment, which I was mortified about at the time mostly because I thought it was so OTT it would obviously invite ridicule (which it did). At the time I saw him as a crude means to reach disillusioned younger people with left-wing politics - the sort of people who wouldn't be reached by conventional left-wing journalists and politicians. As a result I was willing to overlook, or just not look into, his history of problematic behaviour / statements, including sexism. I convinced myself that he was on some sort of journey and that was a good thing. That was an obvious misjudgement. I did think he was a bit of a chancer / had a messianic complex, but overlooked that too as a necessary evil in reaching disengaged people. But that was clearly his main driving force and he clearly ended up concluding that right-wing politics was a better vehicle to satisfy it. It's an important lesson in not stupidly engaging clearly problematic figures, however charismatic or however much mass appeal they have, in the service of a cause. What I would say is that right now we should be centring the survivors of a rapist and sexual predator. I personally don't really think those trying to point score have his survivors' interests at heart. I would also argue that those with the big questions to answer are the right-wing figures who continue to stand by him and spread conspiratorial nonsense in his defence. Finally, let's hope that other possible survivors of Russell Brand feel able to come forward.

I have been waiting 24 years for my neighbor David Westerfield to be executed for the kidnapping and murder of my 7-year-old neighbor, Danielle van Dam. And now thanks to @GavinNewsom, it looks like it will never happen. I was 13 when he abducted her from her bedroom in the middle of the night in 2002. I would never equate what I experienced with what her family suffered, but Danielle's murder devastated our whole neighborhood, and me personally. I was a sensitive kid and it was a major contributor to my mental health decline in adolescence. In the 20 days between her disappearance and his arrest, I developed insomnia and spent those nights walking around the house checking the locks on the doors and windows. I followed the trial closely. As we learned the horrific details, I couldn't stop thinking about what she endured during the 3 days he had her. Her body was found dumped off the side of a road 25 days after she went missing. It was too decomposed to test for sexual assault, but we all knew that's why he took her. He was also convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material found on his computer. There was never any doubt about Westerfield's guilt. There was an abundance of forensic evidence, including her blood on his clothing and in his motorhome. In 2019, the California Supreme Court unanimously upheld his conviction and death sentence. Shortly afterward, Newsom imposed his moratorium. And now he does THIS. California voters rejected abolishing the death penalty in both 2012 and 2016, and even voted to expedite executions. All these years, I've held on to the hope that someone would eventually take office who respected the will of California voters and would allow these sentences to be carried out. It's especially insulting to hear Newsom go on about morality, as if he is morally superior to those of us whose lives were affected by these heinous crimes and who want to see the perpetrators brought to justice. I'm hoping the California Supreme Court can stop Westerfield's commutation.
BREAKING: California Gov. Gavin Newsom has commuted the death sentences of all 548 people on the state’s death row to life without parole, in the largest mass commutation in modern U.S. history.

We're going to have a lame duck war. We're going to fight a war of choice as if we had nothing to lose. With this talking point we're going to be constantly debating whether or not to use our nukes before they use the ones we imagine they'll have someday.
What would have happened to the price of oil if one day the Islamic Republic of Iran announced without warning that they had successfully detonated a nuclear weapon?

GOP's basic principles are limitless immigration and offshoring to whichever country pays their spouse's speaking fees.
I really hope we see Haley run for president in 2028 as part of a return to a new modern version of the Republican Party that rejects MAGA and charts a resurgence of its basic principles.

I think that @policytensor is going to be sorely disappointed. Instead, the elites will say that the problem wasn't that Trump sought to maintain primacy, but that Trump went about it in a damn fool way. They'll say Iran was dumb. They'll say he alienated allies. They'll say he was soft on The Putin. They'll say he was too pally with Xi because he 'worships dictactors' or something. What's needed, they'll argue, is the reinjection of liberal morality into US foreign policy, and a reestablishment of the alliances. Then, America, with its eager satrapies in tow, can march confidently toward another century of primacy. In other words, they will draw entirely the wrong lessons from this. They'll draw the lessons of Luce and Rachman, Clinton and Jake. Recall that it wasn't until Trump entered power than ANY State Department or senior administration official conceded that the world was multipolar. I doubt they accept it even now.
Another unpopular opinion I suppose. But I am coming around to the view that Trump has yet to perform great historical services for us. He’s gonna hold this line because he is a stubborn mule with a real fighting spirit. Ya’ll are gonna scream for two years. But he is going to prove to us that Western primacy is inconsistent with global macro stability and the welfare of the people’s of the West who have refused to tame the imperialism of their elites for far too long. They will scream until they understand the price of primacy has risen. His historical job is to clarify the problem beyond dispute until the appetite for global primacy vanishes across the West.

Say the line Bart.
JD Vance effectively stopped Trump from finishing the job in Iran by pushing for a premature ceasefire. Now, he’s using that very defeat to attack Trump. This guy is pure evil.

As your President I promise that in every instance, I will press the Win Easily button, fund research into new Win Easily buttons, and ensure that Iran only has a very weak button that have to press really hard to make contact in one particular spot on said weak button.

There are buttons they're not telling us about.
Replying to @LouisWordGenius
Let’s ignore Iran for a second. Why didn’t Trump just press the instant win button for the midterms?

The GOP cannot betray its voters, it can only *be betrayed* by it's voters. Identical to the takes from the mainstream libs when the voters reject Dem overreach and incompentence.
Trump and the Republicans need to lay the groundwork to destroy democracy in 2028. Major blocs swinging 70 points in 2 years over gay bullshit is not a governable electorate

It was a referendum on Israel.
Here’s what last night wasn’t about: an embrace of Democrats’ radical policy dreams or a failure of candidate quality. It was a referendum on President Trump. Period. And it was a shellacking. youtube.com/watch?v=91IFRhoK…

Look how they take care of their own. Gen Z Boss in a Mini doesn’t need to worry about being replaced by a Claude prompt when the Dems are in power.
Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 needs to be a pause on advanced AI development, regulation of this out of control industry, and a ban on artificial superintelligence.

The cease fire brought down gas prices and stabilized the world economy for the duration of the MOU and when we violated it, everyone decided to play rough with us. No blood for oil. Literally, spill no blood and you get your oil. That was the deal and Trump didn't take it.
Mr. Vice-President, Please allow me to present a different perspective. The problem was not the Iran War. It was the cease fire. If you start a war, you need to win it and finish it – otherwise don’t start it. This war should have been over six months ago, with the Strait of Hormuz wide open and oil flowing. The second and third tiers of Iranian leadership should have been destroyed, and we should have supported the pro-western forces who could have taken leadership. We stood on the brink of a new, more peaceful Middle East - and then we blinked. We had a chance not only to deny Iran nuclear weapons, but to get rid of the world’s biggest supporter of terrorism. Instead, we had a cease fire, which was followed by months of will we or won’t we finish the job. Every day was a different message. There still is. Is the war over? Is it about to begin? No one knows. There is confusion and inconsistency. In June 2025, America was not involved. This was an Israel vs Iran issue. No one forced the United States to attack Iran then, or in February of 2026. It was a decision made by President Trump. In my opinion, it was the right decision. Once the decision was made, we should not have stopped until the regime fell. But instead, you negotiated a cease fire that didn’t last, didn’t work and left us in no man’s land, with higher prices and our troops still deployed. Our troops could have been home, the Navy returned to its bases, a peaceful regime in place , new alliances forged, and gas prices below $3.00 a gallon. No, Mr. Vice President. It’s not the war. It’s the so-called cease fire.
