I’m glad @bradlander was released from IDF custody, and I call for the rest of his delegation to be released immediately. This is just a glimpse of the horrific reality Palestinians face in their homeland every day, terrorized by Israeli soldiers and settlers and unable to live freely.
And it’s why I continue to demand that the Israeli government release all arbitrarily detained Palestinian prisoners, and for the U.S. government to stop enabling occupation and genocide of the Palestinian people.
I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee).
But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention. For harvesting olives. They should all be released immediately.
To be clear: Palestinians face far worse consequences every day. These detentions by the IDF are one more attempt to undermine Palestinians’ right to harvest their olive groves, travel on their roads, and live in their homes. Yet one more element of escalating, and very clearly state-sponsored ethnic cleansing.
We’ll update on their status as soon as we hear.

Israel is committing a genocide against Palestinians, paid for by American taxpayers.
As Israeli airstrikes continue to kill children and families in Gaza, half a million Palestinians are set to lose access to food and assistance.
Whether by bombs or through starvation, the genocide has not ended. We must end it. We can start by passing my Block the Bombs Act.
🚨 BREAKING: Half a million Palestinians in Gaza will lose monthly food assistance as funding shortages force major World Food Programme cuts ahead of winter, ABC News Australia reports.
➤ WFP is reducing its monthly reach from 1.6 million people to 1.1 million. Families receiving two food parcels will now get one, and flour bags will shrink.
➤ Daily hot meals have fallen from 250,000 to 150,000. Some families in hard-to-reach areas will receive meals every other day instead of daily. Cash assistance for 75,000 families is being cut by 40%.
➤ WFP’s Carl Skau said traditional donors, including the U.S. and Europe, have reduced funding. “It’s not because the needs are down … it’s only due to the lack of funding,” Skau told ABC.
➤ Around 1.4 million people face crisis-level hunger or worse, including 200,000 in emergency conditions. WFP says it urgently needs $450 million for six months of operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Ending US complicity in Israel's brutality, aggression, and genocide isn't a "blue state" or "red state" issue - and the Israeli government knows it.
Our polling out today conducted by YouGov found that 59% of all Iowa voters - including 73% of Democrats and 46% of Republicans - support cutting $3.3 billion in annual taxpayer-funded weapons to Israel.
The state of Israel (not AIPAC) is running ads and videos in Iowa, as the midterms near.
The ads/videos feature footage from Trump's America 250 festivities, a clip of a Trump White House flyover, and video of Mike Huckabee, who won Iowa years ago. zeteo.com/p/why-is-israel-ru…
NEW POLLS: A majority of likely voters in six states expected to decide control of the US Senate - Georgia, Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas - support Senate measures to block the transfer of bombs to Israel.
Our new polling, conducted by @YouGov, was first announced on today's episode of Pod Save The World with @TVietor08 and @brhodes and sampled over 3,200 voters from September 25 to October 14.
State-by-state results below 🔽
Polling throughout 2026 has found similar results in Michigan:
- 55% of all likely voters say they oppose continued military assistance to Israel (Fox News poll, August 2026)
- 54% of all likely voters say they believe the US is doing too much to support Israel (CNN poll, September 2026)
- 53% of all likely voters say they support resolutions in the Senate to block the delivery of bombs to Israel (IMEU Policy Project/Data for Progress poll, April 2026)
Endless weapons giveaways to Israel will be a liability this November - and in 2028. Politicians who prioritize winning over catering to the fringe demands from AIPAC should take note.

Last year, President Trump chose to cut ACA subsidies and let healthcare costs more than double for 20 million Americans.
Meanwhile, Israeli leaders like Smotrich brag openly about how Trump is sending them tens of billions of dollars of bombs at the US taxpayer’s expense.
THIS THURSDAY: Join us for an important discussion with Dr. @AssalRad, author of the new book “Don’t Say Palestine: How the Media Manufactured Consent for Genocide.”
Dr. Rad demonstrates how Israel’s ongoing genocide would not have been possible to sustain in the face of growing public outcry without the mainstream media’s complicity under both Presidents Biden and Trump.

US support for Israel has been a disaster for the American people, and voters know it. That’s why a majority of Michigan voters want to reduce support for Israel, support blocking bombs to Israel, and say that the war in Iran was for Israel’s benefit, not ours.
For years, we have watched Israel bomb schools and hospitals and invade their neighbors with our tax dollars, while we’ve gotten hit with higher gas prices and millions struggle to afford life here. The status quo cannot continue.
Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed shared his views on U.S.-Israel relations, saying he does not consider Israel an American ally: “I think it’s time for us to realize that Israel is not actually our friend.”

US laws already on the books prohibit sending US weapons to any country committing gross violations of human rights. Those laws haven’t been enforced when it comes to Israel, which continually violates the Foreign Assistance Act including the Leahy Laws, the Arms Export Control Act, and more.
The American public has moved far beyond merely conditioning aid. They want US law enforced and weapons to Israel cut off entirely.

Trump has announced over $20 billion in weapons to Israel since taking office.
He looks the other way when US citizens are killed by Israeli settlers or soldiers, and refuses to investigate.
He followed Israel into a disastrous war that has cost every US household at least $2,000 and has no end in sight.
He retaliates against US allies when they follow international law by holding Israel and Netanyahu accountable to the law.
At every turn, he prioritizes what’s best for Netanyahu’s reelection over what benefits the American people he is supposed to represent.

.@AssalRad's new book "is a shocking exposé illuminating the ways in which the media molds public opinion to help perpetuate & build consent for atrocities. A must read,” I blurbed.

Abdul El Sayed is the only Senate candidate in Michigan who wants to make sure your hard-earned tax dollars go towards building hospitals and schools at home instead of helping Trump and Israel bomb schools and hospitals abroad.
Early voting begins on October 24th.

Today, another American citizen & journalist was brutalized by Israeli settlers attacking Palestinians in the West Bank.
This repeated violence & brazen impunity for attacks against Americans & Palestinians alike are unacceptable.
When will Trump & Rubio DO SOMETHING?
