ATTENTION!!! Governor @seyimakinde , This is the current situation at Community Secondary School Awotan-Orisun, Apete, Ido LGA, Ibadan, Oyo State, 17 months after we first raised the alarm. Children are still learning in deplorable classrooms that are unplastered, dirty, overcrowded and lacking proper windows and doors. More than 150 JSS1 students were reportedly packed into one classroom. This is happening in a state receiving billions of naira in revenue. Between January and May 2026, Oyo reportedly received ₦131.08bn gross and ₦116.13bn net in FAAC allocations. So, Governor Makinde, when will this school be fixed? While political activities and future ambitions continue, these children cannot wait. They deserve safe, decent classrooms now not promises. @oyostategovt @FeedbackOYSG, please act urgently. ATTENTION!!! Dear Gov @seyimakinde & @oyostategovt Residents living around Community Secondary School Awotan-Orisun in Apete, Ido LGA, Ibadan, Oyo State, are raising concerns about the school's terrible state. During a visit to the area, a resident spoke with a student from the school, who confirmed the poor conditions in which they learn every day. The classrooms are deplorable, unplastered, dirty, without windows or doors, and at risk of collapse. Over 150 JSS 1a and 1B students are packed into a single classroom, and the student-to-teacher ratio is around 150:1, making learning extremely difficult and ineffective. Children in this community are learning under unsafe and overcrowded conditions. This situation is not acceptable and requires urgent attention from the Oyo State Government, Ido Local Government Authority, and the Ministry of Education. This is particularly alarming given the size of Oyo State’s education budgets: ₦58.2 billion was allocated in 2023, ₦60.2 billion in 2024, and ₦66.4 billion has been proposed for 2025. Oyo State is also a recipient of the World Bank-funded Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) program, which provided over $6 million (₦5.4 billion) to support basic education. Despite these efforts and the announcement of ongoing school retention projects across 175 schools, Community Secondary School Awotan-Orisun remains untouched. We are calling on Governor @SeyiMakinde and the relevant authorities to intervene and fix this school without further delay. No child should be left behind.
