This is really disappointing. It's commendable that child poverty has been given the prominence it deserves but using a human rights framework to bring accountability to those ambitious goals would have placed power into the hands of children and families.
Shelving the Human Rights Bill is an incredible breach of trust by the First Minister and shows a complete disregard for the thousands of rights holders who have campaigned for progressive legislation to advance #AllOurRightsinLaw Utterly shameful decision @ScotGovFM

I am convinced that we must declare a moratorium on all deficit-focused and damage-centered research. This research pathologises and is often used to enforce harmful social engineering policies. Researchers focusing solely on problem identification should turn their critical gaze back on themselves and their harmful practices. Researcher, first, do no harm!

Great to be with tenants from Cables Wynd House at the City Chambers today, speaking to the full council about the awful state of their unreliable lifts, which put off disabled people from leaving their homes. Waiting to see if @KatrinaFaccenda 's motion
Cables Wynd Residents Group delegation spoke powerfully to @Edinburgh_CC today- their lifts are not fit for purpose, causing disabled people to be trapped indoors. Waiting to see if @KatrinaFaccenda's motion is passed today. @shelterscotland @EHRCScotland. #HumanRights

We daily engage the threadbare social fabric of our post-industrial society, where ppl often lack secure embeddedness in a family, a workplace, a neighbourhood, or a community of interest. This represents both a social & health hazard: to which community building is the response. TheConnected.Community

A deputation from the @CitadelYCLeith addressed councillors this morning asking them to revise their processes - Willy Barr said that their accounts are publicly available and the centre and other applicants had nothing to hide - he called for more transparency

We're staring down the barrel of a 33% rise in homelessness by 2026 according to the Crisis Homelessness Monitor. We *urgently* need more homes made available and investment in preventing homelessness earlier.
Our chief executive @matthew_downie said: “We can’t just sit back and watch as more people are forced onto the streets, to sleep in cars or garages, or spent months or years trapped in emergency accommodation that just isn’t fit for their basic needs." news.stv.tv/scotland/homeles…

What a disgraceful #dailystar. With so many people struggling with addiction glorifying #alcohol only makes it more difficult for those tempted at this time of year. The Scots relationship to alcohol is troubled to say the least. So many genuine stories they could have reported
