BATMAN BEGINS was released 19 years ago today. Acclaimed as one of the great superhero origin movies and the film that catapulted the career of Christopher Nolan, the making of story is mysterious as The League of Shadows… 1/33

You know it’s all over when you walk into the foyer of the Live Aid musical and are edged out the way by a photographer trying to take a shot of Arlene Phillips. Oh the irony 🤦‍♂️

If you think this government are to blame for the failures in the NHS, please retweet this. They are pointing the finger at hard-working NHS staff and we need to send Rishi Sunak a message!🚨

Most people are aware of the main reason Nightingales were a calamity - there were no people to staff them - , but Nightingale hospitals were bizarre for other reasons Well, bizarre when you assume the govt is acting in the interests of the public’s health… 1/n

Don't let people forget. The French government has repeatedly offered to build a refugee processing centre for the UK in France, they have offered to help fund it and to allow British immigration staff to work there. It would instantly solve the "boats" problem The UK refused.

You probably won’t read in the papers today about the consultant surgeon who padlocked the operating theatres shut when there was no PPE, and safeguarded lives by refusing to operate until PPE was found. You won’t find out about the consultant who put her hand up and fought…

It dawned on me this morning, as I scrolled, that not everyone's time line may be as specific as mine is. Climate aware people will not be surprised at this🧵but those who have been ignoring it, denying it, or thinking it won't happen here, or soon. It is. 1/

Watch as Question Time host Fiona Bruce continually interrupts SNP MSP Mairi McAllan. No other panellist had to endure this. She was never allowed to complete even one point without being interrupted, heckled and spoken over.

Ridley Scott’s swords-and-sandals classic GLADIATOR was released 23 years ago today. An enormous production full of star names, the making of story is as epic as the film itself. A THREAD 1/35

The government has sold the Oxford Vaccination production unit to an American Company for £200m Built in 2014 to respond to Ebola and absolutely essential during Covid, we will not have it for the next pandemic. It would cost just £5m a year to keep open. Another Conservative Party benefical financial deal for somebody or just their normal incompetence? @RishiSunak, could somebody please look at this and explain why.

This is very good. Whenever I hear the word "balance" now, I reach for the smelling salt. However, I also hear the word "truth" and reach for the garlic and crucifix. We need a new criterion of "reliable" news....and I don't know what it is. bylinetimes.com/2023/02/24/c… – at Glasgow, Scotland
