picking up the phone and calling your friends, acquaintances, and business partners, is increasingly becoming a lost art. in a world of back and forth texting, and video calls scheduled multiple weeks out, be a phone call guy!

the tech adjacent influence to ‘simplify’ and ‘de-fluff’ language, and comms, has gone a bit too far in recent times a rich vocabulary is a beautiful thing. we must resist the cancer that is minimalism, especially when it comes to writing. words are beautiful. writing should be fun! I concede that sometimes over-articulation can obscure the point at hand (perhaps like this tweet), but from the writers perspective, it sure is more soulful. a cluttered and ill-thought home is often worse than a sleek de-cluttered interior, but id argue that a well-designed space filled with tasteful decoration is above both. writing can be, and should be, the same.

Ryan is a legend at translating complex weird tech ideas into palatable, cohesive narratives. All with a stellar eye for design and branding. Founder friends, you should hit him up rn while he has capacity!
Is this positioning too cheeky? Bang on? Not cheeky enough? You tell me, copywriters. For context: STUDIOFORM® helps deep tech and deep science companies build brand identities/strategies that help them raise, attract the right talent, and scale. studioform.ca

A rare and profound piece of storytelling about the rare and profound life of a Norwegian wanderer who traversed the sub-Arctic in Canada as an frontier explorer. Absolutely extraordinary in every way. It will transport you. Make time. nytimes.com/interactive/2026…

My grandfather is 93. In the 6th grade, after receiving a telegram that his father had passed away, he left school (for good), and made the multi-day train ride home to Dar Es Salaam to take care of his many siblings. Yesterday, he accidentally deleted a bunch of emails from his gmail app and used ChatGPT to figure out how to recover them. He was a bit frustrated it was taking so long, as it was cutting into his YouTube and newspaper time (on his iPad, of course). In one lifetime, he went from telegraphs, gramophones, and minimal electricity, to smartphones, streaming services, and LLMs. Technology is beautiful.

very very cool tech but also incredibly unsettling! on a technology level, there is not a question this is incredible. but what is the end goal on a humanity/society/progress level? serious question. I want to learn. please teach me. fwiw I think we've got it all wrong when it comes to the 'embodiment' of intelligent (and superintelligent) systems. I've said it before with respect to our urge to create humanoids as opposed to other 'droid' form factors. maybe the obsession with replicating the human essence 1:1, when it comes to technology, like agents that are indiscernible from humans, is the problem! frontier agent tech already feels like a new species living within our computers and phones, so it should look like a new species too! I want my agent looking like something out of a sci-fi novel. give me weird and futuristic and creative! not generative clone of my ginger co-worker. (leave that to the biologists on the frontier) uncanny agents, and the deeply disquieting undertones, are what evokes society-at-large's pilomotor response. this is what scares ppl when big ai lab doomsday comms escapes our beloved twittersphere. this is what is freaking my mom out man!! we were promised superintelligent c3po's and r2d2s but instead all we got was hyperrealisticaicoworkerslop for all the single wagies out there who are now one step less likely to logging off and touching grass. cool tech tho. fr.
The whole point of building Tavus has been simple: talking to a machine should feel as natural as talking to a friend or coworker. It’s hard to describe all the tiny nuances that make a conversation feel human. The little expressions. Moving around in your chair. Knowing when to speak and when to listen. The dance of it all. Griffin is by far the closest anyone has come to a model that can capture those nuances. The first time I saw it being used, I had no idea I was watching our model rather than just a normal video call. I’m so incredibly proud of this team and what they’ve built.

another way to ask this q: does talking to a machine have to look like a friend or coworker, while also feeling as natural as talking to a friend or coworker? interesting divergence of user interface philosophies, will be interesting to see where industry takes it

It was a privilege to be invited to the Alberta Legislature to meet with the Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. From arriving in Canada as a stateless person, to putting down roots in Edmonton, to becoming the viceregal representative of King Charles III, Her Honour's life story encapsulates the Canadian dream. We discussed a wide range of topics, from Canada-U.S. relations to domestic healthcare policy, biotechnology, and clinical pharmacy. But perhaps the most pertinent topic was how young people can pursue leadership roles for the advancement of Canada. We must continue to work hard, be compassionate, have empathy for those around us, and always, always, give back to our country. I am proud to be Canadian.
Meeting young Canadians who are choosing to make a difference in the world always leaves me hopeful for the future. It was a pleasure to spend time with Dr. Keean Sarani, whose generosity of spirit, commitment to collaboration & service to others reflect the very best of Canada.
