A court in Vienna has upheld a private arbitration ruling based on Islamic Sharia law, confirming that parties can agree to settle certain financial disputes under Islamic legal principles.
The case involved two Muslim businessmen who agreed that contractual disputes would be decided according to Islamic legal rules known as Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaah.
After an arbitration panel ordered one party to pay €320,000, he challenged the decision, arguing that Sharia is interpreted differently by Islamic scholars and conflicts with Austria's legal principles.
The Vienna Regional Court for Civil Matters rejected his challenge, ruling that Islamic legal principles can be incorporated into private arbitration agreements concerning financial claims.
Austria's right-wing Freedom Party warned that recognizing Sharia-based arbitration could encourage parallel legal structures, while the government established a working group to examine possible legal reforms.

This is the first time in a long time that Israel has explicitly blamed Russia for anything happening in Ukraine. That’s a positive shift, but Ukraine needs more than just words (and the occasional electric generator). Give Ukraine air defense, already. They are being massacred.
Deeply saddened by the horrific news from Komyshuvakha, Ukraine, where 40 people were killed in a Russian attack. Among the civilian sites struck was a school serving as a humanitarian aid distribution centre. Many people are still missing.
We condemn this attack and extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed. We wish the wounded a swift and full recovery.

Socialdemokratiet insisterer på at give 2055 mennesker indfødsret uden antydningen af screening. LA har allerede opdaget én på listen, der åbent har hyldet Hamas-ledere og arkitekten bag 7. oktober, ligesom Dansk Folkeparti og nu også Venstre har fundet yderligere åbenlyst tvivlsomme ansøgere.
Ingen aner hvor mange flere, der er - og regeringen nægter pure at undersøge det.
Derfor stillede jeg hende præcis det spørgsmål tirsdag i Folketingssalen.
Men jeg fik intet - som i intet - svar fra en tydeligt befippet og sortsnakkende statsminister.
I stedet vred Mette Frederiksen sig som en ål på land, mens hun talte udenom med søforklaringer om, at Socialdemokratiet måske engang vil indføre en grundig screening, at borgerlige også har stemt for dumme ting, og alt muligt andet end det, hun blev spurgt om.
Det var helt ærligt pinligt at se på.
Derfor prøver jeg igen:
Kære Mette Frederiksen, hvorfor er du så utrolig forhippet på at gøre et ukendt antal potentielle terrorsympatisører, antidemokrater, homofober og andre til danske statsborgere?
Det burde ikke være svært at svare på, så jeg venter spændt på at høre din forklaring.
Og som den åbensindede mand, jeg er, inviterer jeg også alle andre fra regeringen til at forklare, hvorfor de er så opsatte på at give disse mennesker statsborgerskab og dermed stemmeret og mulighed for at påvirke vores fremtid.
Danskerne fortjener et svar.

So what if a Muslim wins an election in America and becomes a congressman or senator? Why is that any different from a Buddhist winning an election?
Because Buddhism is a religion. Islam is a state.
Islam has a population: the ummah. It has a constitution: Sharia. It has courts, criminal law, family law, taxation, rules for minorities, doctrines of war and peace, and a foreign-policy framework governing relations between the land of Islam and the lands outside it.
The ummah is not tied to Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, or any other modern country. It crosses all of them.
Islam's population "Muslims" belong to one political-religious community.
That is fundamentally different from Buddhism.
A Buddhist American may practice Buddhism faithfully, but Buddhism does not give him a second universal political order with its own law, sovereignty, territorial doctrine, and theory of government.
Islam does.
This is why reducing Islam to “just another religion” misses the point.
Muslim officeholders are literally citizens of another existing country, and their loyalties can never be American first, because the two projects are contradictory.
Add to that the religious hatred of Jews in Islam and the special relationship between Israel and America.
A Muslim in a position of power in America, with a religious mandate to hate Jews, will not approach Israel from the perspective of what is in America’s best interest, but rather from the perspective of what Islam commands him to do.
