If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed.......and we will deserve it.

He was a rat in a trap tonight and had no choice, to save face—but I have zero doubt that he has not, in fact, come to Jesus. The Suzy Sunshine bit will be a distant memory in mere days. He's fucked, he knows it, and lashing out is his self-love language. Scary territory ahead.
This is possible. Weirdly, it’s also possible that he plays nice. He does this thing sometimes when he knows he’s cornered where gets all winsome, like he can charm his way out of the noose.

I'm looking forward to WEEKS of this stuff
Trump failed at regime change in Iran but he succeeded in Texas

Strong Norma Desmond–coming-down-the-staircase energy here
I hate to say it, but America is over. The communists and jihadists are going to open our borders and replace our votes with votes from illegals aliens. We now have reps who openly speak about their hatred of America, their love of communism and their support for sharia law. We won’t be able to undo the damage they cause on our country come 2028. America 250 was a funeral. The American Dream is dead.

Add John Fetterman to the list of tonight's losers. He's now reduced to a mere marginal annoyance to the Dems, will be primaried in '28 (if he doesn't throw in the towel first), and easily defeated. Even if he switches parties (paranoid fantasy, if you ask me), it won't matter.
I hope this proves a bad night for Putin. He has a dream team in our executive branch -- Trump, Vance, Witkoff, et al. The Republican Congress has shied from supporting Ukraine, because this Congress is a servant of Trump. May the next one do better.

A LOT of shady stuff that was overlooked in the heat of election season and the steady fire hose of shit from this White House is about to finally go under the microscope. I hope Trump has plenty of lube, because Dems are about to be up his ass like a hand in a sock puppet.
The House Judiciary Committee Democrats who published these allegations will soon be in charge of the committee and can conduct a robust investigation.

This is a big deal here. And the Free State nutters are feeling especially glum tonight!
NH Senate Democrats went from an 8-seat super-minority to a 15 seat majority tonight! It's been nearly two decades since a state legislature has gone from a super-minority to a majority. We are ready to get to work on day one to lower costs for Granite Staters! #nhpolitics

Lotta signs going to be tapped over the next several days
When the disaster began.

Hard to pick a favorite by-product of this election, apart from general GOP apoplexy, but the fact that tech bros are about to be denied one data center after another—or forced to put them in deep-red areas—is way up there. Cool your jets, boys, because you have no choice.
Insanely, horribly bad night for Elon Musk, who not only wasted half a billion but will have a Congress who hates him and an entire texas state government who loathes him

Amazing to think that this kind of thing is now coded red

"Trump ain't the GOP." "Conscience." Nah. Trump's the sinking ship, and the GOP are just the rats who were only too happy to suckle from his flabby man-tits until the milk curdled.
Trump ain't the GOP. GOPers just might have a conscience in the privacy of the ballot box.

We'll literally see the ship rising in the water as the rats abandon it. Trump will continue to detach further from reality, and Republicans will pray to be rid of him—as if they haven't had plenty of opportunities to do the right thing. Give each of them them their own ice floe.
Been wondering about this sort of thing. Conventional wisdom was that the right way to the Republican nomination was through Trump, but now it's not clear at all.

That's fifty-four percent of your constituents you're impugning, Ted! You never disappoint with that characteristic perceptiveness!
Texas, today is the day. James Talarico seems like a nice young man and a moderate. That's the act. This is a man who said "God is nonbinary." Who said there are six biological sexes. Who called capitalism an oppressive system he wants to dismantle. And who says we should look to Western Europe for inspiration. Take a look at Paris. His record is just as radical. He voted NO on border security, NO on cutting your property taxes, and NO on stopping cities from defunding the police. Lie to the voters, then get in power. Don't let it work. Get out and vote for @KenPaxtonTX.

"God's plan"
Ken Paxton supporters are currently CRYING in prayer circles after James Talarico blew them out

Some personal archaeology
I have little faith in present-day Dems but am still hoping that for once they read the handwriting on the wall and grok that Talarico is the only one who can thread the needle to actually win a Senate seat in Texas. Let Crockett be an influencer, which is what she's good at.

BREAKING: TEXAS SCALPEL, TOFURKY FUTURES UP 378% ON POLYMARKET; Good Ole Boys Stockpile Chewing Tobacco, Pork Rinds in Anticipation of Years-Long Dark Night of the Soul
Democrat James Talarico flipped a U.S. Senate seat in Texas on Tuesday, defeating Republican Ken Paxton to pull off the party’s first statewide victory in more than 30 years and sending a jolt through a longtime GOP stronghold that President Donald Trump carried by double digits just two years ago.

Big question: What are the GOP sad sacks in Congress going to try to jam through in the next couple of months while Trump spends all of his time looking at carpet swatches and paint chips like a mid-century TV housewife?

Really fine, vigorous overview of election night—on a deadline—by @Politico's @jmart. I always wonder if writing this snappy and polished is at partly pre-written—in any case, the perfect nightcap.

I think what we're all wondering is whether man ass is still going to be a plank in the MAGA platform for the next two years

Better put on some Kevlar if you plan on taking a peek into the Republicans' circular firing squad 😂
