Staff strength has been reduced, counters have disappeared, and the workload on the remaining employees has increased. Now, we're told that employees must take lunch in turns so that customer service never stops. Sounds perfect on paper! 👏 But when one employee is already struggling with a queue twice as long as before, who exactly is supposed to handle the other counter? And can a cashier simply hand over responsibility for cash and walk away without proper arrangements? You cannot run a full-service bank with half the staff and expect twice the workload to disappear through “adjustments.” The situation gets worse when some visitors turn a lunch-time dispute into a social-media spectacle. The camera comes out, the argument gets louder, and the objective shifts from resolving a problem to creating viral content. 📱🎭 And what does the institution sometimes do? Instead of firmly examining the facts and protecting its employees, it rushes to apologise publicly—even before the entire incident is properly assessed. That sends a dangerous message: humiliate an employee loudly enough, and the institution might make you the winner. ⚠️ Customer service is essential. But so are employee dignity, workplace safety and adequate staffing. If banks need uninterrupted service, recruit enough people. If customers need faster service, provide sufficient counters. If employees are being harassed, protect them. And if misconduct occurs, investigate fairly instead of judging by whoever makes the loudest video. A bank employee is not a punching bag, a content prop or a machine that runs without food. You cannot demand world-class banking from an understaffed workforce while treating basic human needs as professional misconduct. Dear Bank Management: Stop rewarding public humiliation with institutional apologies. Support your employees with the same urgency with which you protect your brand image.
