Apologies - I know that is really cynical - but in both my own experience and watching the those of @hhbhca residents as a community volunteer, interactions with @cityofcalgary are only getting worse and worse. – at Calgary, Alberta

Why is @JeromyYYC in Red Deer?
Carney just arrived in Red Deer. Farkas is right beside him (busting with glee Carney thanked him for his inclusivity) On the other side of him, @ABDanielleSmith is glowing as he points out her “tough collaboration” (she looks giddy) Thanked Monte Solberg for “picking up the tab”

The "No to the 9" crowd who are voting "No" on question 5 (Should ID be required to vote"...... Are OK with requiring government issued ID to attend their event. 10/10 for mental gymnastics
Serious question for the "No to the 9" crowd. Why do you vote "No" to question 5? How can you be against providing proof of citizenship to vote? Or did you not read the questions, and you're just voting the way you've been told to?

I was born in Calgary. I've spent my whole life in Toronto. Over the past two years, filming the documentary Broken Country, I've spent more time in Alberta than I have since I moved east. And I've come away seeing the separation debate very differently than I did going in. I met a lot of separatists. Almost none of them were who I expected. They weren't angry cranks with a flag. They were farmers, nurses, oil workers, small-business owners, grandparents. And the thing that surprised me most: most of them want nothing more than to remain in Canada. They just can't see another choice. Think about what they've lived through. The National Energy Program. Pipelines approved, then cancelled, then litigated into the ground. A tanker ban on one coast. Hundreds of billions sent east through equalization, returned as lectures about how the industry that pays for Canada's infrastructure and provincial shortfalls is something to be ashamed of. A federal government that has gone to court to argue Alberta's own resources aren't Alberta's business. And through all of it, a Parliament where their votes are a rounding error. You can disagree with every policy position Albertans hold and still see the pattern: a province that built one of the most productive economies on Earth, asked over and over to apologize for it. The people pushing for a referendum aren't traitors. They're patriots. They are standing up for what they believe in and fighting for a better future for their kids, a future their own federal government keeps telling them they don't deserve. That's not a tantrum. That's what citizens are supposed to do when nobody in power is listening. I'll say it plainly: I want nothing more than for Alberta to stay in Canada. This country is not whole without it. If Alberta leaves the country I love and am fighting for will cease to exist. But maybe a referendum vote is exactly the wake-up call the rest of us need. Not because Alberta should leave, but because the rest of Canada has to finally decide whether it wants to be a partner or a landlord.

Respectfully, @cityofcalgary, and in particular @yycplan, I humbly suggest to you, as a 29 year Calgarian and 12 year community volunteer that this simple message is the simple underlying root cause of the current challenges #yyc is facing with respect to citizen engagement
Thanks to Candace Walker on LinkedIn for this gem. lnkd.in/p/gvnAeNBt Often the most powerful advice is delivered by the simplest & most straightforward messages!

Why do Calgarians keep opposing projects that supposedly align with Local Area Plans built through "extensive" public engagement"? Consider this, Calgary. #yyc #yyccc

Hey @porterairlines - super disappointed to see you basically muscle into @flyyhm effectively pushing @WestJet out but then proceed to drop all direct daily service to *ALL* of Western Canada (except for a few flights on some days to Vancouver) over the winter months.

This effectively forces everyone bound for the west back to @FlyYYZ because c'mon no one wants to fly further east to connect through either Montreal or @FlyYOW.

If @porterairlines truly wants to be a national airline it really needs to start considering routes from more perspectives than just those in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

And this reminds me of a significant reservation I have about the upcoming Alberta referendum. @ABDanielleSmith given that you didn't follow the will of the people on ABT, how can Albertans have any confidence that you will do so with respect to the results of this referendum? – at Calgary, Alberta
Ugh. Still dark at 7:30 in the morning. I'm already dreading Alberta’s new time system (ABT) and it hasn't even had any effect yet! alberta.ca/albertas-new-time…

One of the most straightforward, helpful and least biased presentations of the Alberta referendum questions that I've encountered. (But it does trouble me a bit that the site is entirely anonymous.) tenquestions.ca
