Hari Seldon’s Psychohistory vs. Bitcoin: The Macro Math of Human Behavior
Right now, it’s hard for me not to see the massive parallel between the mathematical foundation of #Bitcoin and the science of "Psychohistory" created by Isaac Asimov’s character, Hari Seldon, in the Foundation series.
In the saga, Seldon uses mathematical equations to predict macro-level human behavior over thousands of years. He can’t predict individual events, what a single person does, or even the actions of small groups. It only works on a massive, collective scale.
Satoshi Nakamoto, on the other hand, engineered a decentralized, distributed mathematical model for a digital currency, hard-coded with a strictly regulated halving and supply issuance until the year 2140.
Here is where it gets fascinating: short-term, Bitcoin looks incredibly volatile and unpredictable. Why? Because its daily price depends on countless human variables—how many miners choose to secure the network, how many people use it as a store of value, medium of exchange, or pure financial speculation.
This is where Psychohistory kicks in. Bitcoin's code isn't just predicting block times; it forces us to predict human behavior in relation to Bitcoin.
On a micro level, individual decisions look chaotic. But on a macro scale, human psychology reacts to Bitcoin’s mathematical scarcity in cycles that are proving to be highly predictable. After just 4 halving cycles out of the 32 expected, the collective human pattern is already playing out exactly as the macro-math anticipated.
Are we watching the real-world application of Psychohistory?

Many thanks to @RodolfoBits & @labitconf for inviting me to beautiful Buenos Aires. I had a lot of fun debating Milei, eating fantastic asado & visiting one of the world's most prolific shitcoin-mills!

I've never seen this kind of Wild West for hackers. If you run any kind of organization that produces software, pay attention:
- Someone injected a malicious Claude Code extension into Cursor's marketplace. It had a backdoor that gave the attacker instant access to the computer of every developer using it.
- Anthropic was founded in 2021. Cursor in 2022. These companies are used everywhere by everyone, but haven't had the time to build secure practices. It took Apple and Microsoft decades to get it right. You cannot speedrun security.
- Your organization is using a grab bag of AI tools. People are using Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Muse, Instinct, Chinese models, who knows. You are creating code at insane speeds, using tools that are maintained by people doing the same. Stop and think about what this means.
If I were you, I would take a minute to run an inventory of every AI tool that you use. What access levels does it have, and how do you quickly react to a compromise. There is no book that will tell you how to do this, unlike for traditional software development practices. You're going to have to think about it. Don't delay, and godspeed.

Last Friday I killed my other AI suscriptions and "hired" @bot to manage my kanban with 11 personal projects I had drafted in the last 5 years. It's already turning them into functional and automated online businesses. Never thought to accomplish such a productivity growth.
