This thread is honestly the only thing that makes sense of the whole affair. It’s a Four Seasons Landscaping situation.
Ok, I didn’t expect a story time on Saturday, but here we go. What I’m about to write is TRUE. It is insane, stupid, and very dumb, but it is true. Earlier today Donald J Trump, the p[resident of the United States, posted that he had offered the job of Press Secretary to Dana White. Well, it was the wrong Dana White… 🧵

Best governor in the nation—and I say that as a Florida resident. He would make an excellent president.
Romney attacked me during Covid as an “authoritarian” who was “more dangerous than Trump.” This was during the time when I used my power to protect people from the largest incursion against liberty in our lifetime — restrictions and mandates that Romney supported. Blocking local governments from imposing covid mandates/restrictions is not being an “authoritarian”; it is liberating people from government overreach by city and county officials. Florida is better for our efforts, and the country would not have been liberated had we not led. Claiming to be “severely conservative” and then smearing the one guy who delivered the conservative wish list across the spectrum shows him to be a phony. Better than Obama but he would have given us managed decline that accepted the assumptions of the left and bowed to criticisms of the legacy media.

Looks like my man has gone full QAnon here. His trajectory has been a sad one for quite a while now.
STOLEN? "It is looking a little bit as if the president set a trap for these birds, daring them to try another rigged election. He has acted like Mr. Conviviality since Nov. 3, offering best wishes to the winners as the final numbers slowly spool out." --@JHKunstler kunstler.com/p/color-revolut…

If there’s one thing this election should disabuse these mouth-breathers of, it’s the “five-dimensional chess” stuff. It’s been Chutes & Ladders all along.

Whew. Now the cultists have someone to blame. Susie Wiles is responsible for Iran, tariffs, showy ICE operations, and the weird fixation on the ballroom! In no way was it Trump himself who ran Republicans into the iceberg.
"I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026. Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!" - President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸

Are stupid people really going with the idea that there was a giant demographic change in Texas between 2024, when Trump won handily, and now?
In 1970, the White population in Texas was 89%. In 2000, it was 50%. Now it’s less than 39%. Demographics is destiny.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
In 1970 the White population included Hispanic people because surveys in Texas didn't ask about Hispanic ethnicity as a separate question from race. In 2000 the White population for just race was 71%. Today White is 74% and "White, not Hispanic" sorted for ethnic origin is 37%. census.gov/quickfacts/TX

And the day before the election, he was out in front of the reflecting pool. This is the stuff he cares about and mistakenly thinks other people care about. Meanwhile at rallies he's calling the candidates fat and unattractive. Never a shred of message discipline.
The president is speaking right now at the ballroom construction site: "This is a special structure. It's going to be not only one of the biggest, but it'll be the most beautiful ballroom I think anywhere in the world."

A post-Trump reckoning was always coming for the GOP. It begins today. The Trump voting base has been a coalition that only Trump himself could (occasionally) hold together. Vance won't be able to. Nor DeSantis. A new coalition will have to be built. Who can do it?

“It was bad candidates! None of this is my fault!” You have to hand it to him—he’s remarkably consistent.
Trump just now, in his first post in three hours, writes: "I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Ron DeSantis is the only Republican executive on the bench who has proven he knows how to wield power and keep his party in power.
Florida sweeps again — congrats to the statewide ticket: Byron Donalds, Gov James Uthmeier, AG Blaise Ingoglia, CFO Wilton Simpson, Ag Comm.

You can talk about “historical patterns” all you want. The GOP just got pasted in *Texas.* If you just write this off to historical inevitability, you will never win anything again.

Smart people in the GOP will learn from tonight. Dumb people in the GOP will whine about the media and continue to tell the electorate they’re just wrong.

To wit:
"These people are SOULLESS. They are not Patriots at all. They would rather hand the country to communists than allow a different GOP than theirs to get in. It's going to take a long time to clean out that old guard." - @JesseKellyDC

Shockingly, if continues to remain the case that “you’re not actually experiencing what you think you’re experiencing” is not a winning political message.

The “official narrative” is supported by multiple videos from multiple sources at multiple angles. Not to mention the giant crater in the ground and debris. Plus audio, radar, and literally every other kind of evidence you could possibly want. Yes I believe the official narrative because I’m not retarded. The more interesting question is what exactly motivates people like this to assume that every single event in the world is a carefully orchestrated conspiracy, despite having no direct evidence or even circumstantial evidence for almost any of their theories while flatly rejecting any and all evidence that refutes them. Is it just simply that these people are extremely dumb and, thanks to the internet, we are exposed to a level of human stupidity and lunacy that intelligent and functional people would otherwise never encounter unless they were volunteering at the local homeless shelter? Or is it that, along with being unbelievably stupid, they are also cowards who cannot face the fact that bad things sometimes just happen — actually, very often just happen — and there isn’t some shadowy force carefully arranging and manipulating everything that occurs everywhere in the world at every moment? Or is it that they actually aren’t as stupid and cowardly as they seem but rather they are cynically pretending to be stupid and cowardly for clicks or kicks? Or is it some combination of these three? I think it’s a combination. But who knows.
If you believe the official narrative of the Palm Beach "airplane" you're ngmi

God bless America.
For fifty eight years, my boss in Tokyo believed that beef should be sliced as thin as paper. In Japan, we cook thin meat for four seconds in boiling broth. That is our way. Then last month, the YouTube algorithm showed Director Sato a video of a man in Texas smoking a brisket. It changed his life. On Monday morning, he called me to his desk. His eyes were bloodshot. "Have you seen this?" he whispered, turning his monitor toward me. "The American pitmaster does not sleep for sixteen hours. He sits by the fire in the dark. He guards the meat like a castle." I said, "Sir, it is just a barbecue." He slammed his hand on the desk. "This is not cooking," he said. "This is a vigil." Last Saturday was our annual company picnic by the river in Kanagawa. Normally, we grill thin meat and yakisoba for two hours and go home at 2:00 PM. I arrived at 9:30 AM to help set up. Director Sato was already there. I want to be accurate here: he had been sitting in a folding chair since 10:00 PM on Friday night. He was wearing a towel around his head and staring at a massive black barrel smoker he had imported from Oklahoma. Inside I said: THIS MAN HAS ABANDONED CORPORATE LIFE FOR THE SMOKE. When we tried to help him, he held up a pair of metal tongs and clicked them twice. "Step back," he said calmly. "The stall has begun. Nobody opens the lid." Twelve Japanese accountants stood in complete silence around a barrel for four more hours. Nobody dared to eat a single noodle until he gave the signal. At 1:45 PM, he sliced the meat. It fell apart on the cutting board. My boss looked at the pink smoke ring, nodded once, and wiped a single tear from his cheek. He has already submitted an official budget request for a trailer smoker for next fiscal year.

The governorship of @GovRonDeSantis has largely been a smashing success, but it's still an enormous disappointment that he hasn't fixed Florida's DMV. The main contact most people have with the state is still an understaffed, overbooked, antiquated nightmare.

A pretty perceptive list, IMHO.
I was asked to give a lecture next week at a church in Minnesota on what I see as the most pressing issues facing Christians. Here's my rundown I'm working on for my lecture. — The beginning of life: Reproduction and human dignity. — The manufacture of life: Genetic engineering and designer children. — The simulation of life: Artificial intelligence and digital personhood. — The enhancement of life: Transhumanism and human augmentation. — The embodiment of life: Biological sex and bodily identity. — The commodification of life: Surrogacy and reproductive markets. — The manipulation of life: Surveillance, algorithms, and human agency. — The extension of life: Longevity and the pursuit of immortality. — The quality of life: Disability, dependency, and the meaning of dignity. — The end of life: Assisted suicide and euthanasia. In a word: bioethics. The central moral question of our age is increasingly whether human nature is a gift to be received, enhanced beyond our native capacities, or a problem to be solved. Christians need to be prepared to answer it. I am confident that our doctrine of the imago Dei, coupled with the Christian natural law tradition, provides a sufficient basis and bulwark to guide civilization, if civilization will entertain them.
