nobody was saying this trade improves charlotte right now, the case was always that with lamelo and their core they would’ve been nowhere near contention
so instead of fighting to be a 1st round exit they opted to trade someone whose value had been negative for an extended period of time prior to their great 25/26 season and ‘sell high’
they are now in the perfect position, they’re good enough to be above the relegation zone but can also freely tank without harming lamelo’s value or lamelo asking out with the end goal of getting a true #1 / superstar

This absolutely should have been addressed this past summer. They screwed up.
Here's Tim Connelly addressing the media this morning on Anthony Edwards' knee injury.
- Will have an arthroscopic procedure in the next 24 hours
- Not a meniscus injury; just an arthroscopic clean up of his knee
- The most recent imaging of the knee changed after the game in Cleveland on Monday -- different than the imaging they took in last season's playoffs and different than even a month ago.
- Edwards wants to play tonight, but this is what's best for his long-term health
- No timeline set for recovery until after the procedure. Don't think it will be something that costs him the season
- Connelly says Edwards should be good as new after recovery. This is not something they're concerned with long-term.
