This is based on the assumption that Andy Burnham is capable of making tough decisions…..

From Yorkshire to Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire to Worcestershire, Conservatives won ALL of last night’s council by-elections in England 💙
Three gains and a hold, beating Labour, the Greens and Reform:
🌳 Cllr Amanda Carter, Calverley & Farsley, Leeds. GAIN from Labour
🌳 Cllr Rosemary Bolton, Hertford Kingsmead, East Hertfordshire. GAIN from Green
🌳 Cllr Ben Lavender, Grantham St Wulfram’s, South Kesteven. GAIN from Independent
🌳 Cllr Tony Miller, Hartlebury, Wychavon. HOLD
Proud to have put my name to this letter. Anti-semitism should have no place in our politics, left or right.
Over 500 Conservative councillors have signed our open letter calling on Green councillors to stand up for British Jewish residents.
The Green Party has declared “Zionism to be racism”. Zack Polanski didn’t stay to vote against it. And yesterday, he told Laura Kuenssberg he wouldn’t overturn it: “I don’t think this is actually controversial.”
We’re asking Green councillors to disavow the motion, challenge antisemitism and reassure Jewish residents they’ll be represented without prejudice.
Silence is a choice.

Why bother voting Liberal Democrat?
Skip the middle man and vote Labour.
**Ed Davey fightback interview**
:: ‘Sharp things’ were said in crunch meeting with Lib MPs on Tuesday
:: ‘Absolutely’ he wants to lead the party into the next general election
:: Rebel in chief Charlie Maynard won’t be stripped of whip despite criticism
:: Social media cut through hasn’t been good enough and must improve
:: Lib Dems on committees will be brought more into policy development
:: Davey now explicitly targeting a return to government, ie another coalition
:: He makes clear full proportional representation will be his key demand
:: …and Davey argues it may *not* need a referendum; manifesto promise enough
In short: Ed Davey’s pitch to rebels questioning his leadership is he’s experienced and wily enough a negotiator to lead them back into government
(The unsaid bit: Most likely by striking a deal to share power with Andy Burnham if there’s a hung parliament)
Full interview below
Ed Davey: My MPs had sharp words for me but we’re united now

The Conservatives seem to be enjoying a conference bounce as they jump to second in our voting intention, while Labour lead by 4.
🌹 LAB 28% (-1)
🌳 CON 24% (+3)
⏩ REF 21% (-3)
🔶 LIB DEM 11% (+1)
🟢 GREEN 7% (-)
⚫ RES: 5% (+1)
N = 2,101 | Fieldwork 9-12/10 | Changes w 5/10
Fascinating only 16% of Lib Dem voters think their party would make them financially best off (indeed more think the Conservatives would do so). Very telling on just how soft their vote is.

If you can work, you should. We must not borrow from our children to support people who refuse to work.
That’s why we’ve announced a plan for a fairer welfare system: six months on Universal Credit to find work. After that, what you receive depends on what you’ve paid in👇 – at London, England

Nigel Farage's dream of becoming Prime Minister is dead. He can still win an election, but only for Andy Burnham. If the Right wants to stop Labour securing 5 more years in power its only chance is to unite behind Kemi Badenoch > Daily Mail > dailymail.com/debate/article…

Great news. Exactly what London needs.
London needs more than an administrator. It needs a champion, someone who understands its potential and is prepared to fight for its future.
That’s why I’m running to be the Conservative Candidate for London Mayor.

Out campaigning in the sunshine spreading the message in Surrey Heath that only @KemiBadenoch and the @Conservatives have a workable plan for our economy.
Who now rates her more? Well the gains have come from the left and the right. Conservative 2024 voters now give her net approval of +60 up from +12 in October, among Reform it’s from -31 to +12, 2024 Lib Dems -43 to - 4, 2024 Labour -41 to -7.
