This assumes the SAT measures intelligence. It mostly measures how rich your parents are.
The math is full of tricks and patterns which have no correlation to actual mathematical ability and isn’t taught in schools. Rich kids can afford the tutors, prep courses etc.
But it’s the best we have when every teacher gets to decide what an “A” means.
The solution is similar to how we have it in the UK where coursework gets externally moderated, grading rubrics are standardized, and schools whose grades systematically run high or low get calibrated.
