THE HEADLINES MAY FADE. THE WARNINGS HAVEN’T STOPPED. Listen to this. On October 20 at St. Louis Lambert, a controller repeatedly ordered a plane to STOP after clearing it for takeoff while another aircraft approached the same runway. The FAA says the plane stopped before entering the runway and required separation was maintained. Everyone made it home. Our 67 loved ones did not. Near misses may not command the national attention they did a year ago. That does not mean the danger has disappeared or that Congress can afford to wait. How many more warnings do we need? We need a strong, bipartisan aviation safety bill NOW. Act before another tragedy forces more families to fight for changes that should already have been made. Make two calls today: Speaker Johnson: 202-225-4000 Leader Jeffries: 202-225-4700 Tell them: “Finish the deal. Pass an aviation safety bill now.” #FamiliesOfFlight5342 #SaferSkiesForAll

Replying to @RepSamGraves
@RepSamGraves @RepRickLarsen Please remember what is at stake. On January 29, 2025, 67 people lost their lives. My brother Christopher was one of them. These were mothers, fathers, children, brothers, sisters, cousins, spouses, friends, pilots, and service members. The @famofflight5342 have spent months fighting to ensure this never happens again. We need a combined ROTOR/ALERT bill with mandatory ADS-B In, no loopholes, and meaningful safety requirements. 67 lives. 67 families forever changed. Stop talking about comprehensive aviation safety. Deliver it. The names of all 67 are below. ⬇️

Honestly, this could be the most important piece of legislation the 119th makes before the EOY. Take that last step and fulfill your promise to our families. These are their names, just in case you needed a reminder of who we're fighting for.
67 people died. Two investigations. Systemic failures exposed. The Army report is out. The NTSB report is out. WHAT MORE DOES CONGRESS NEED? @RepSamGraves @RepRickLarsen @SenTedCruz @SenCantwell @SpeakerJohnson @SteveScalise Stop negotiating away critical protections. Pass aviation safety legislation WITH meaningful, enforceable ADS-B In requirements. No loopholes. No more delays. 67 lives lost. Make the changes that could save the next 67. #Flight5342 #AviationSafety

Important reminder from @DeanMaxwellKs on the urgency for Congress to strike a ROTOR/ALERT Act compromise now. Unless we see progress in the next week or so, we will likely mark two years without our loved ones without the critical actions the @NTSB called for.

It's not too late to act. @SpeakerJohnson and @RepJeffries, get your parties in order and get this vote done before the end of the 119th. Please do not make us wait longer.
The Army’s own investigation makes the case. Congress needs to act. 67 people died. Now the Army’s investigator recommends ADS-B In in heavy urban airspace, the protection our families have been fighting for. Finish the aviation safety bill. Require the technology. Set firm deadlines. Close the loopholes. Our statement below. @SpeakerJohnson @RepJeffries @RepSamGraves @RepRickLarsen @SenTedCruz @SenatorCantwell @TransportGOP @TransportDems @SenateCommerce @commercedems @NTSB_Newsroom #SaferSkiesForAll #AA5342

Glad you asked. We're still here Secretary Duffy. We need you to spearhead the @NTSB recommendations for the @FAA among others. Modernization is a wonderful step in the right direction, but we need urgent and probable safety solutions now. We owe it the AA5342 victims.
HAS THIS HAPPENED TO YOU? Stuck at the airport on a sunny day, wondering why you’re delayed Sometimes, it’s because too many planes are competing for the exact same patch of sky ➡️ ENTER SMART By predicting bottlenecks and rerouting flights in advance, we’re reducing delays & cancellations so you, and Freddy, take off and land right on time ✈️

Without AA 5342 it's not clear if Congress would have provided the significant funding and you are right it certainty was a big impetus for action
As we continue to see more disruptions in ATC from aging infrastructure to technological short falls, we cannot forget what highlighted these signals that were blaring in the background on mute for years: the tragedy of Flight 5342. Being home results. No more delays!

News: @SecDuffy said today he wants another $30 billion for aviation upgrades -- $10 billion for software/digital/SMART; $10 billion for towers and $10 billion for airports including runways etc -- on top of the $12.5B approved by Congress last year

I mean, the same can be said for 67 people dying in a mid-air collision, the @NTSB saying why and what to do about it, and the @FAANews not doing those things.
.@SecDuffy said the communications issues impacting East Coast flights were not acceptable. "This is unacceptable in America" adding: "We have solutions, need resources and let's fix it" -- renewing call for $30B in total for ATC

ADS-B In would have saved the lives of my wife, my son, and 65 others. The @NTSB has been recommending it since before my son was born. So, I also classify the @FAANews failure to act as "unacceptable."
We issued 5 recommendations to the Department of War, 8 to the US Army, 2 to the Department of Transportation (DOT), 1 to the DOT Inspector General, 33 recommendations to FAA, and 1 to RTCA. The Board unanimously voted on Monday to designate 11 of the recommendations to FAA as unacceptable action. These include a longstanding recommendation to FAA to mandate the use of technology that will allow pilots to see surrounding traffic and avoid collision.

Day 582. Leadership may change. The @USArmy’s commitment to our families should not. We were promised transparency and the release of the Army’s investigations. That commitment belongs to the institution—not any one individual. Honor it. Release the reports. #SaferSkiesForAll

Day 575. @ntsbgov investigators did their job. They found the facts, identified what failed, showed the way forward. Make their work matter. Fix the safety systems that failed so they know the work they do is saving lives. @usarmy keep your promise. @secarmy Release the reports.

I will never be able to appropriately thank those responsible for pulling the victims from the water as we waited for them to be recovered; so their families could have peace. @SecArmy @USArmy This pain will never leave me, but you can help ease any doubts. #SaferSkiesForAll
Day 574. They rushed into the darkness. Into freezing water. Into chaos. Police. Fire. EMS. First responders who answered the call on January 29, 2025. They ran toward a tragedy they should never have had to face. Part 1/2
