"It cannot be stated often enough or vociferously enough," writes Kori Schake. "The Trump administration is helping Russia to conquer Ukraine. The United States of America has taken the side of an aggressor against its innocent victim." Dark and true. aei.org/foreign-and-defense-…

Today, Russia once again showed how it really feels about ending the war and seeking peace. The deliberate mass killing of civilians right on the streets and in residential buildings in several Ukrainian cities in a single day – these are Russia’s “arguments” in negotiations. Ukraine and the entire free world must respond to this with real strength. For every victim in Ukraine, Russian defense industry facilities must burn, and Moscow’s very ability to wage aggression must be destroyed. Only the military strength of Ukraine and its partners can stop the daily loss of life caused by bombs, drones, and missiles in the heart of Europe. I call on Ukraine’s partners to give the aggressor a fitting response to its daily terror. Long-range weapons to suppress Russia’s ability to wage its genocidal war, effective air defense systems to save the lives of Ukrainian civilians – this is what will truly bring peace closer. Only together can we stop Russian evil.

Russia sending condolences for the train catastrophe in Spain and at the same time creating a new train catastrophe in Ukraine.
❗️Today, Russian forces struck a railway station platform in Dnipro, where a train carrying civilians was present. According to preliminary reports, 13 people have been killed and many others injured. Emergency services are working at the scene, providing assistance to those affected. These attacks are yet another horrific example of ongoing crimes against Ukraine and its people. My condolences to the families of those killed. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.

Today’s edition of the New York Post, a newspaper read in Republican offices in Washington and New York. As Americans watch the evacuation operation in Oleshky, they must remember who bears responsibility for the countless deaths in Ukraine. Their blood is on the hands of Putin and the russians. To end this war, the United States must pressure russia, not Ukraine. Three organizations – Razom for Ukraine, American Coalition for Ukraine, and Nova Ukraine – placed the following advertisement in the New York Post. Translation of the advertisement: “You are a humanitarian, sir, and I pay tribute to you for that,” – Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Putin. Just days earlier, russia bombed a residential building in Zaporizhzhia, killing 17 people, including a mother and child who were holding hands. Pressure russia, not Ukraine. So basically what everyone feared would happen is happening.
Russian forces have begun taking civilians from occupied Oleshky to Russia, apparently disregarding previously announced agreements governing the operation. The operations are being conducted by the Russian military, without American representatives or teams from either side’s ombudsman office present. Russia’s state news agency TASS is openly filming the operation. There is no indication that civilians are being given a choice of where they wish to go. No buses or other vehicles designated to transport evacuees to Ukrainian-controlled territory are visible. The operation raises serious concerns that Russia is once again exploiting a humanitarian evacuation to forcibly transfer Ukrainian civilians. The parallels with the evacuation of Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant are disturbing. Once again, Moscow appears to be disregarding agreed procedures while controlling the fate of Ukrainian civilians.

Please read this article by @ZarinaZabrisky; a true hero whose quiet, tireless work helped bring Oleshky to the world’s attention. Now, she is sounding a warning we must hear‼️‼️‼️ Forcibly deporting civilians from occupied territory is a war crime. Moscow must not turn this ceasefire into another instrument of repression. The people of Oleshky must be able to reach safety in Ukrainian-controlled territory, freely and without coercion. Their choices, rights and dignity must be respected. Thank you, Zarina, for continuing to speak out and stand beside them. Please read, share and, if you don’t already, follow her‼️ theatlantic.com/internationa…

I've seen people debate why a creator would leave YouTube for Instagram if Meta doesn't pay. They wouldn't. But creators haven't been exclusive, mono-platform in years. And Reels is arguably a bigger discovery engine via short form for long form content. It's always and, never or
Everyone is chasing the long form CTV ad dollars. Reels is a $50 billion revenue business alone. People cast to their TVs. Still, I don’t know if it’s as easy to convince the Reels audience to watch long form as it is to convince the YouTube audience to dabble with Shorts.

Wild (and disturbing) indeed!
Completely wild @FT story that, even as Congress was passing the Graham Russia Sanctions Act over the summer, Russian energy giant Novatek was secretly involved in one of the newly-developing Alaska LNG projects, and the Trump Admin was at least generally aware of it....

Things are moving so fast that everyone seems to have completely missed how insane it is that AI companies have been allowed to unleash agentic AI products with no regulatory guidelines.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

One of the most powerful missile attacks on Kyiv in recent memory. Dozens of explosions. Russian missiles are hitting various parts of the city tonight. It seems Witkoff was negotiating not peace in Moscow, but more strikes on Ukraine. After his visit, "humanist" Putin became even more furious in his killing.

A man who kills civilians, every day, is a "humanitarian" ? Who kidnaps children? Who authorizes soldiers to use torture and rape?
Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff just told Putin he is a humanitarian. This is completely fucking insane.

Nobel laureate @avalaina has documented Russian war crimes in Ukraine since its full-scale invasion. These are defensive weapons that Europeans have paid for
🚨 NEW: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has yet to approve the transfer of a "significant" batch of Patriot interceptors for Ukraine, sources say. "It's hard to call this a 'monthly supply,' because there's no set amount of how much you need for a month," a senior Ukrainian official says. "But it's significant." Some in Kyiv suspect Washington is holding the missiles back on purpose to pressure Ukraine, as Russia keeps striking Ukrainian cities. With @JimmySecUK kyivindependent.com/its-sign…

Starlink has absolutely no role in the one military campaign Trump claims he wants Ukraine to end: hitting Russian oil refineries. It only works in Ukraine and it helps with air defense — homegrown air defense, to be specific, which was born of necessity because we aren’t providing enough missile interceptors. A Russian Shahed today killed a one-year baby in a park. The U.S. is actively making it easier for Russia to commit these atrocities by throttling satellite internet. All while Trump makes excuses for Putin.
🇺🇦 Zelenskyy delivers a blunt message to the United States: “Just give us Starlink back. If you refuse, Ukraine will survive. We will continue defending ourselves with or without it. But why would you restrict a country fighting for its survival? Why make it harder for us to defend our people? I simply cannot understand the reasoning behind this decision. It is a mistake.” Ukraine isn’t asking America to fight its war. It’s asking America not to stand in the way of its defense.
