We had the First Minister of Scotland John Swinney on the pod this week.
Was a fascinating chat including the question of why Scotland gets a much better deal out of the union than Wales.

The story in Caerphilly is that the Farage bubble is obviously bursting, that a progressive majority will vote tactically and that Labour’s very future - vital for British politics- depends on its willingness to stand by progressive values, voters and policies .

It was a wonderful pleasure to welcome @vonderleyen to Scotland last night and to discuss trade, energy, EU co-operation, Ukraine and the tragedy in Gaza. A very helpful opportunity to set out Scotland’s priorities and to hear the perspective of the EU leadership.

Over a decade ago, I was proud to introduce the bill that gave 16 and 17-year-olds the vote in Scottish elections.
Young people here have a stake in shaping our future, and it made Scotland’s democracy stronger.
The UK is finally catching up - this change is long overdue.

I welcome the news that the British Government is to introduce votes from the age of 16 for elections.
This is a step forward for democracy and will enable young people to have a say in their future.
I’ll now be contacting the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, urging him to ensure that the right to vote at 16 applies to the 2027 Assembly and Council elections in the north.

Today we’re delivering on our promise to give 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote.
Young people already contribute to society by working, paying taxes and serving in the military. It's only right they can have a say on the issues that affect them.

Almost half (48%) of people who voted Labour in the General Election are looking to go elsewhere in the Senedd election according to this poll.
Most of the Labour voters are going to Plaid though some are going to Reform. This continues trends we have seen previously.

Around 3/4 of people don’t want Reform in power.
But the narrative is that they are unstoppable.
First-past-the-post has warped British politics for far too long.
Now it risks letting the extreme right win a majority. It needs to go.
