Day 4: Until I get into Y Combinator ⚡
Poll closed: msh won with 56%, so that's our official YC submission.
My phone died and power went off in Addis today lol 😭 but we finished it... so we’re building straight from the terminal.
Exactly 8 days left until the deadline. Day 4 logged. Let’s get into YC. 🇪🇹🔥

I'm 19 and I just landed in singapore on a one way ticket
dropped out of high school. didn't book a flight back, on purpose. my parents think I've lost my mind
I've built more projects than I can count and most of them flopped. that's how I learned to ship
now I'm going all in on one startup and posting every step here, including every dollar I burn
still don't know where I'm sleeping next week
Day 3 until I get into Y Combinator. 🇪🇹
Yesterday we roasted my failed pitch video.
Today: 3 open-source projects. 1 YC application. You decide what I build:
1. msh (The AI Seatbelt)
2. TknGate (The Secret Vault)
3. Agevine (The Guardian Angel)
Vote below. Winning startup gets locked in tomorrow. 🗳️

all your design suckkksss!!.
but it doesn't have to be
cause now you can mimic the design psychology of any top tier designer out there.
livery will let you Reverse engineer any web app , back to its design basics and use that in yours.
📍 Mini Vlog: Stark Hackathon @ ALX Ethiopia
Took a break from my desk this Sunday morning and pulled up to @AlxEthiopiaOfficial (Lideta Hub) for the Stark Official Hackathon.
This was actually my first time attending an in-person hackathon just to be in the room with other builders.
A few quick highlights from today:
1. Panel on AI & Building
Great session on AI and founder mindset, plus @DagmawiBabi 's reminder for devs: use AI, but don't skip core fundamentals and system design for blind "vibe coding".
2. "From Hackathon to Global"
Solid talk by @mikael_endale (CTO & cofounder of RAVN) on building global-scale products straight out of Ethiopia.
3. Navigating the Local Market
Great session by Markos Lemma (@iceaddis ) breaking down product-market fit and the real ground realities of building here.
4. The slide that hit home:
"
NOTHING IS INSTANT
. Every rejection and every failure is part of the road. It's bitter. You'll want to quit before the first win shows up."
Coming off two YC rejections, that was a timely reminder to stay locked in.
5. The Community & Shoutouts:
Huge shoutout to @alx_ethiopia and the Stark team for putting this together, and big congrats to the winning teams! 🏆
Crazy small-world moment: ran into @AbdulfetahYish3 literally my childhood friend, Seeing us both building in tech years later was amazing.
Also great meeting and connecting with the builders:
• @atocodess
• @ermizamr
• t.me/mrbereketK
Glad knowing you guys!
Overall, being in that room gave me a ton of fresh energy for what we’re building.
Day 2 video is coming up next. Let's keep shipping. 💻🇪🇹

Day 2 until I get into Y Combinator. 🇪🇹
As promised: the exact 1-minute video that got me rejected.
Watching this back physically hurts. 💀 Zero traction, zero users, abstract slides.
Tomorrow (Day 3): I’m pitching my main open-source projects and letting you vote on which one I take to YC.
Rate this pitch from 1 to 10 in the replies 😂👇
I was a dropout kid from Addis Ababa with a dream of building Silicon Valley tech.
In Grade 9, my cousin was a freshman CS student. As he learned to code, he taught me everything. That sparked the fire.
I dropped out from Uni to go all-in and spent years grinding behind a screen in silence.
I built real open-source AI infrastructure on GitHub:
• Tkngate: Zero-trust P2P gateway for LLM agents (200+ commits)
• msh: Deterministic execution protocol & runtime
The code worked. But nobody knew it existed. Why? Because I was an introvert hiding behind a screen with zero distribution.
I applied to Y Combinator twice.
I got rejected twice.
The lesson: The best product doesn't win if you can't sell yourself or build a community.
Starting today: "Day X until I get into Y Combinator."
I’m taking my open-source projects out of the shadows and building 100% in public.
👇 Tomorrow: The Day 1 will be posted
Follow along. Let’s build something undeniable. 🇪🇹🧵

I sent the same payment request twice.
SafePay created one payment, called Chapa once, and returned the same checkout link both times. A retry never creates a duplicate.

SafePay just created a real Chapa checkout page 🎉 (test mode, no real money)
Day 11/60: SafePay now talks to a real payment gateway.
Chapa adapter in test mode: create a checkout, pay with a test card, verify the result. Webhooks and cancel come next.

Day 10:a long good Day research, code day
I studied 4 Ethiopian payment gateways, then built a universal adapter so SafePay can plug into any of them. Added a fake provider for safe testing, a "verify before trust" rule for webhooks, and tests passing.
Next: Chapa in test mode.
