The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel –
I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.
Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.

Another damning example of gross procedural overuse in the treatment of #PAD from @propublica. These news articles call out #outliers- but this is becoming a pattern. #WeNeedToDoSomething #Appropriateness @VascularSVS @SIRspecialists @ACCinTouch

As a 3rd yr med student, I got the unsolicited (enraging, gendered) advice that going into surgery would make me a "bad wife & bad mom." 60% of participants delayed childbearing due to demands of medical training; >75% regretted this decision at least 'a little bit'.
Physicians face burdens with family-building, including regretting delaying childbearing, worse well-being, and among ART users a greater likelihood of therapy utilization and reporting relationship strain. @MorganSLevy@FutureDocs @arghavan_salles ja.ma/44S0Ljm

So Merck has sued the Biden administration over the drug negotiation provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act. What’s it arguing? And are those arguments any good?

Escape room for physicians where you have to…
- Turn off (and on) the bed alarm
- Boost a patient in bed
- Pull tray table over the bed
- Troubleshoot a beeping infusion pump
- Silence and adjust alarm parameters on patient monitor
- Disconnect tube from an IV
What else?

via @NYTimes Patients suffer when devices get approved based on small studies that cannot determine safety and effectiveness. The low evidence standard is not disclosed to patients and many doctors are unaware as well. We need high quality clinical trials. nytimes.com/2023/04/16/healt…
