I am honored to be October 19th’s Poet of the Week at @BrooklynPoets! This community meant so much to me over the summer, and it was so exciting to participate in this feature. Thanks Justin Maki for selecting my work! brooklynpoets.org/community/…

Oh 60’s Snoopy, my tall skinny semi-quadruped semi-biped best friend
This is the first piece of Catholic cultural satire I’ve ever added to my devotional routine I can tell you that right now.

It gets more damning when you find out about the reason why he’s in the dessert to begin with

Well, I’m carrying an umbrella and I’m using it for a cane
I’ve seen the houses of the holy, boys, and the palaces of pain
Well, I’m all dressed up and I’m never late
All I can do is keep my head on straight

I am more likely to trust a difficult poet if they prove themselves also capable of elegantly developing a simple conceit. Robert Graves does—

every time you talk about internal monologue you get people "without an internal monologue" describe themselves having an internal monologue
every time you talk about aphantasia you get people "with aphantasia" describe themselves imagining things
i think most people just don't know what a thought is
I saw Bob at Forest Hills Stadium in July! Great interview. 👏
Under the Skin: Interview with Justin Lacour (@TrampolinePoet1)!
He hums like your appliances, likes Bob Dylan set lists, and appreciates the little things.

I love how Outlook deletes meeting emails the moment I hit accept. It’s a genius idea, because obviously I’ll never need the agenda, Zoom link, meeting details, or literally anything else from that email again. Truly incredible software.
I think I can wrap my head around just about any political stance except for the one where people spent two years pretending Hamilton wasn’t good just because Trump won the election. I didn’t understand that one at all.

BOB & the HOOD / BOB E IL CAPPUCCIO
🇺🇸 Many people ask me why #BobDylan always wears his #hood. It's true, even at concerts, always. His reasons are his own, and it isn't my place to judge them. But I do know that this is how he feels like himself. And that is how he felt he should be with the Pope. That much I can say. An artist like him has a very deep sensitivity and a profound desire not to wear masks. That is what he felt, and that is what he did. The Pope welcomed his way of being with complete ease. You could tell from the intensity of the way they looked at each other. A beautiful experience.
🇮🇹 Molti mi chiedono perché Bob Dylan sta sempre col cappuccio?

I've been saying it for years, this place is a silo, like most text-based social platforms. there is no "repeal the 19th" cohort. there is no "100 million deportations" cohort. there is no "everyone hates Indian Americans" cohort. people on this website have been "yes and"ing themselves into fake golden ages and meme wars and none of it is real. None of it.
