3 years later, and still so relevant.
Design handoff (more specifically - cleaning up figma files and adding annotations) is a waste of time - software can change so quickly that figma files are bound to expire. It is the still the best place for explorations until I have an answer.
Primer on how we design at @linear:
The main point is that the design is only a reference, never any kind of deliverable itself, so the way it's constructed doesn't really matter.
1. We screenshot the app and design on top of
2. Simple design system that has mostly colors, type and some basic components (rest you can screenshot/recreate)
3. We have one design file each quarter, each person creates a page in it for their projects (easier to see what others are working on)
4. Naming layers, using auto layout, components is up to the designer if they want to use them or not
5. Use prototypes if needed to show a flow or some other interaction
6. Once the design is good enough, and we start building and the design is now only a reference. The real design is the app again and you start the process over.
Looking for a legendary brand designer, cracked in vibes and craft to join the legendary team at Merciv (literal rocketship).
Merciv is hiring a brand designer.
It’s a role that is, naturally, extremely important and exciting to me.
We’re looking for someone who brings a strategic, systems-driven mindset where it matters, plus a proven ability to execute beyond expectations.
You should feel comfortable translating complex, technical subjects into clear, compelling, and distinct visual applications. You deeply understand the fundamentals, but are comfortable exploring new methods and approaches.
Most of all, you’re intrinsically motivated to do great work.
If that sounds like you, send me a DM or comment below.
when i tell non-tech people i’m a product designer, they picture an artist or a musician. my favorite reframe: if the role existed in the renaissance, it’d be the blacksmith or the woodworker. utilitarian first. a little beautifying on top, but mostly it’s just making the thing work and meeting the user’s needs.
We thought OpenAI would drop a telepathic Jony Ive AI orb. Instead, we got a 13-key mechanical keyboard to click "Approve" faster and can sync to spotify album art
recent life updates ☀️
I graduated from Pratt with a master's in Experience Design.
And I've joined @merciv_ai as a Product Designer. Merciv is a consumer intelligence platform for modern brands. I'll admit I'm biased, but I think it's the next big thing.
We're moving fast, more to come.

Love @worrydream's Magic Ink and his less glamorous ideas of reducing interaction. Ironically, I decided to add a lot of interaction to expand and explain his idea to add whiskers to traditional star ratings.
Also, please read worrydream.com/MagicInk/.

I made Agentation for Figma (I know the UI is busted 🥲)
- Captures all comments and replies in a section or frame
- Assigns node IDs to every comment
- Batch copy/paste into Claude, Cursor, or straight back into Figma agent to execute edits
Shoutout @benjitaylor 🐐

For years I've been taking selfies of my outfits just to remember what I wore or share with friends. Camera roll: thousands of pictures, zero of them findable. So i built the thing i wanted. Meet Yafa 🧵
