People are completely misunderstanding what betting markets communicate. The swing of the betting especially early isn't necessarily the probability of the outcome. It's often a trap for the unwary. The best betting market looks for things people are certain about which are false, feeds delusions to draw in money, then rugs them at the last second. In other words, they don't reward you for being right so much as they punish people for being wrong.

This tweet took off, so let me say: we have a great life here in NYC. We love it. We have amazing kids. We love our apartment.
It is just a fact that we quite literally cannot afford our parents' or grandparents' houses that they bought on a single income and no college in ~1965 and 1997.
This is a policy failing.
Humanity doesn't have that much to conquer anymore, and the stuff that does resemble real conquest is niche and high personal capital, the barriers to entry are too high
Gonna conquer something meanwhile with no money or head start? Idk man try it and tell me how far you get. Maybe you could get a small band and conquer a small country or do a small genocide in India or climb a mountain or something. In some cases you wouldn't be allowed anywhere near "conquest" as soon as the rest of the world heard about it, in others it's more like a choice to isolate yourself to do something interesting. But I wouldn't call it conquest.
Women? "Dating" isn't conquest unless you're famous or extremely remarkable. It's just a natural extension of sociality underneath that. Become famous? Is that something you just "do"? Not really - unless you just wanna be Mr beast and hyperoptimize on mass slop. Do cringe humor for the Gen Alphas. Doesn't sound inspiring - maybe fame isn't worth it if it's an avenue to conquest
Maybe you can Greg Plitt and work really hard and be really good at something locally. That's a good life, but it's not conquest really except of self.
If you have any talent, you generally get a degree, become a professional, make some good money and have some fun along the way. That's life for a good many - there isn't any conquest available. And in that mode of life, what you want is someone to go with you in that. Not a " travel buddy ", not really an endless string of mid bangs, but a growing family. That reflects the preferences of men being toward family. But as we see, women apparently don't want that in very large numbers. I think musing about the reasons behind that is actually very entertaining bc of the shitstorm it causes but it doesn't get you anywhere.
So conquest isn't available, family life and basic professional life is increasingly unavailable (at least with the expectation of a family), what's left?
The effect of things like this is more evil than anyone admits. It's a parallel teaching to no death penalty and no life imprisonment, no deportations.
What it ends up doing is exonerating low grade, official but indirect forms of oppression.

During the Floyd riots you'd see the "smart" leftists constantly saying things like "It's just property. They have insurance. It's fine, insurance will pay for all of that." (aside: most commercial general liability policies exclude riots or civil commotion for good insurance reasons) They'll make up whatever justification they need.
But what it comes down to is this: if you're a normal person who owns a business and someone loots/ransacks your store, you can go bankrupt and move away and start somewhere else, and the looters get your stuff. You don't have rights.
If you're an illegal immigrant, then you have a human right to NGOs paying the cost of transportation and for you to go wherever you want and enjoy the same benefits as a normal citizen. If illegal immigrants run scam operations on your social systems, you're a racist for pointing it out. If you want to scam immigration programs to bring in your friends and family and work for sub-market wages, you have that right. Normal citizens, however, don't have rights.
If you're a criminal, you have human rights and cannot be executed or imprisoned without a "path to rehabilitation." The people you victimize don't have rights - the criminal does, and the system is set up to blunt any punishment directed at the worst criminals.
That's the future everywhere, and Trump is very flawed, but he's the only one standing against this at all.
