Thank you for the new (and existing) follows 🫡 Sharing a bit about me.
Background
- No formal background in finance. Worked in tech startups (2015-2021). Quit during the 2021 crypto bull market to focus more on private investing.
- Was in crypto 2019-2025. Did OK and learnt a lot on how finance works in the DeFi world. xitter.cf/MacroJason/status/2019…
- Early 30s. Lived across 3 parts of the world. A multilingual and multi citizenship 'globalist' who ironically distrusts globalism and buys into a good amount of associated conspiracies.
What I invest in now:
I'm a top down macro investor. I identify themes and countries I believe in, then select the most assymetrical investment instrument to express that view.
1. Romanian and Polish real estate: my primary position. 20%> AAR since 2018. xitter.cf/MacroJason/status/1887…
2. High yield fixed income: began investing after the Ukraine war started in 2022 and yields spiked especially in Eastern Europe. From Hungarian, Romanian and Kazakh sovereign debt to Uzbekistan corp bonds at 29% YTM
flagventures.com/blog/xycf30…
3. Global equities: concentrated portfolio on energy, shipping and Kazakhstan banking. I attribute a good amount of my high returns to date to beginners luck. Will be happy if my returns averages out at ~20% AAR overtime. xitter.cf/MacroJason/status/2039…
📩 I have a private newsletter which you can subscribe to for free. I do the opposite of spamming. I'm lazy with newsletters and sent out around 4 last year. flagventures.com/
Wrapped up first quarter 2026 with 91.23% YTD returns on my equities portfolio.

Coal: $TGA.L, $YAL.AX

Got rid of small positions in $CIG and $NVO.
If ‘teenage labour’ was legalized and encouraged - it would replace the need for third world migrants. That’s how China (allegedly) made your iPhone without letting in third world migrants.
Jobs for kids and teenagers was normal just until a few decades ago (mowing the lawn, farm work, newspaper delivery, car washing, retail and service sector etc).
Next step would be to abolish subsidized university education for 80% of non STEM students and cut 50% of useless government jobs. Then your immigration problem is solved. Small problem: no one will vote for the above in a democracy.
IQ is correlated to race. Culture is correlated to both. Higher IQ doesn’t mean one group is morally superior to another. If anything, higher IQ individuals have a duty to care for the less intellectually gifted - but never in a way that destroys their own civilisation (which is what many parts of the high IQ world is doing right now).
Lula's Brazil is ranked similarly to Milei's Argentina in rule of law and corruption perception, though both are superior to Paraguay and El Salvador.
Brazil's credit rating is also superior to Argentina's and El Salvador's. This is reflected in the EMBI spread (extra interest a country pays to borrow vs the US government).
So whilst LatAm passport bros prefer 'libertarian' Argentina, Paraguay to El Salvador to 'communist' Brazil - global pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds and asset managers (managing trillions of dollars) see things differently. Let's see how this plays out in Lula's 4th term.

Bought $EWZS (Brazil small cap ETF) at $10.58 and $BLTN (Brazil 1 year government bond ETF) at $108, on top of $EWZ at $34.44.
BLTN is for holding BRL cash that can be rotated to equities in case of further opportunities. You are buying on a day where $USDBRL is +10% at around 13% YTM.
Small speculative position based off gut feel that many were caught offside and now overreacting. Don't blindly copy my trades. I don't know much about Brazil and other experienced Brazil traders I know are waiting.
Many working class Trump supporters are fine with the US being poorer in return for 'America First'. In 2025, it was tariffs induced CPI and stock market crash. In 2026, Iran war induced fuel price surge.
Many Lula supporters share the same ethos. They value geopolitical sovereignty and don't want to be an 'American colony'. They are fine with being nominally 'poorer'. In this sense, both blue collar Trump supporter and Lula value national dignity more than 'GDP per capita'.
What the MAGA interviewer does here is similar to what zionist media in the US do to blue collar MAGA voters - select the most bad optics character to discredit the movement. But notice the Lula supporter at 15:35 - he was trying to explain to the interviewer that he rejects liberalism and wants to try Chinese style state capitalism, not soviet style Communism. The interviewer was only interested in getting the 'so you support Communism?' soundbite. Besides, I don't think he understands what state capitalism is anyway.
My personal opinion if I was Brazilian? I would support Bolsonaro on most issues but Lula geopolitically.
🚨 Brazil declares Lula the President: After an unprecedented and first time in history Lula extended the election for an additional 2 hours and now has won the Brazilian election.
Prior to adding the additional 2 hours Flavio Bolsonaro was leading for the majority of the day and has now called to "annul" the election and has not accepted the election results.
Many of Lula's supporters are self declared communists. In this video you will see why they voted for Lula and the causes they support. I highly encourage to watch and share this video as you see the ideology that is moving through Lula's political party in South Americas largest country.
LatAm passport bros from 1970s explains how best to get things done in the 80 IQ world.
Not to be mistaken with the viral ‘it’s so tiring’ Chinese clip - which deals with the 65 IQ world (link in post below).
The 2nd world is not the same as the 3rd world. 1 SD in median IQ is considerable. Learn the difference.
It's not exclusively a LatAm trait but a '80 IQ civilization' trait. Also present in MENA and the part of sub continent which touches 80 IQ.

If Brazil is Venezuela - is Argentina Africa? Argentina shares the same credit rating as Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana and Sri Lanka.
Spent some time on Brazilian twitter. A big difference I noticed: many Brazilians are not afraid to post their opinions (politics or otherwise) with their real name and photo. Much more real identity account vs rest of world. I respect that - regardless of what their views are.
It's not a Global South thing either - as Turks and Indians for example like to use anon accounts.
The saddest characters on X are those whose entire identity is based around being highly political and negative - yet as grown men, lack the courage and sovereignty to post with their real identity.
They hide behind a digital burqa and live the life of Dostoevsky’s ‘underground man’ - sick and spiteful.
In some ways, I respect ‘zionist influencers’ more in the Dostoevskian sense that they are at least ‘men of action’ - unafraid to leave their basement and engage the world with their real identity.

Just bought some $EWZ (Brazil ETF) - purely based off vibes that a 20% overnight sell off is an over-reaction. Not financial advice.
Some of you know I sold off nearly all my stocks this summer but this seems like a fun short term bet. Now that Lula is politically secured, maybe he will make some statements to calm the markets. He has done that in the past when the markets plunged a lot.
Replying to @kunley_drukpa
The average Brazilian granny who just left money in a bank deposit outperformed 95% of traders on X - remarkable second world stuff
Added $XP at $15.58. -50% on Brazil's main stock broker doesn't make sense to me. I'm aware of Lula's plans to 'regulate online gambling' but still.

Que locura hermano.
$XP principal broker brasileño derrapando 50% hoy!

The remarkable pragmatism of a Chinese analysis of Brazil - Brazil is always going to be Brazil; a perennial mid-tier semi-failed civilisational state. Sink into the favela, don’t fight it, learn to let go and you’ll still be able to get healthy returns on your investments. Wow!
Once you remove the false hope that Brazil can be a first world country but also the emotionally charged negativity that Brazil will imminently turn 'third world' just because the candidate you like didn't win an election - you can truly appreciate Brazil for what it is (both as an investor or otherwise): a solid and sovereign second world country, with incredible funk music. God bless Brazil. $EWZ $PBR $BLTN $CIG $NU

Looks like my prediction about Lula winning came true. Probably not great for Brazil internally but I maintain my view that Brazil will continue to be ‘basically fine’ from a geopolitical and markets (stocks and bonds) perspective. I.e. unlikely to underperform LatAm average.
Foreign investors and institutions trust Lula more than locals assume. Ironically more than they trust ‘free market’ Argentina, as evident by interest rate differential and credit rating.
Brazil is the only LatAm country I find interesting due to its sovereignty. On a basic sense, the only LatAm country where Trump can’t fly in and extract the President if he wanted to. A cool and solid second world country (that I can’t visit as Lula might jail me for my tweets). $PBR $BLTN $EWZ $CIG
