Happy Birthday Burmanda 🌹
Despite creating soundtracks for over 100 films, Burman Dada actively avoided watching the movies he composed for.
This haunting song from Bandini and the climax of the movie has me choking up when ever I hear this song.
The song is beautifully structured around Raag Khamaj, a classical raga traditionally associated with longing, romance, and emotional depth. S.D. Burman kept the arrangements intentionally minimalist, relying heavily on traditional folk elements to give it the authentic vibe of a boatman's song.
Lyrics Shailendra
Song picturised on Ashok Kumar and Nutan.
Directed by Bimal Roy.

A casual music session between a mother and son reached more than 5 million people.
There was no studio, no elaborate setup and no years of formal music training.
When Vicky Das’s mother, Anna Devi, began humming, he joined her with beatboxing.
They had done this before, simply for fun. But this time, they decided to record the moment at home and share it online.
What followed was unexpected.
Their voices and beats struck a chord with millions, turning a simple musical moment between a mother and son into a viral video.
Sometimes, the most beautiful music isn’t made for a stage. It happens when two people simply enjoy creating something together.

A generation of Indians learnt about Indian history and culture not from school but from Amar Chitra Katha.
Who started Amar Chitra Katha?
It was Anant Pai.
Today is his birth anniversary.
Anant Pai or affectionately Uncle Pai was born in Karkala (Karnataka) on 17th Sept 1929
Once, while watching a quiz program, he noticed that kids were not able to answer the Q. "Who was Rama's mother?"
That inspired him to start Amar Chitra Katha. ACK taught many of us Puranas, history, and culture.
He lost both his parents at the age of two and was brought up by his grandparents. He has also written and produced a video film, -Ekam Sat (the Vedic Concept of God), in both English and Hindi.

I will forever be grateful to @claudeai, @AnthropicAI and @DarioAmodei for helping me bring my pet history project, a 15 year dream, to life.
For a guy with below average intellect, less than ok articulation and zero knowledge of code and programming, it was @claudeai's sheer awesomeness that transformed my sketchy vision, written in broken English, into actual, clickable, reality.
I had never even imagined there would be a day, where we could be given the power to create and get access to a domain that was the preserve of much more intelligent beings.
I will forever be grateful to them for this.

.@MahindraXUV700 Loved the TD of the #xuv700 AXL7. Is the leather in the seats, gear knob, steering animal cruelty free? Need it absolutely leather free. Important to know before I book. Similar dilemma I faced with Ford India earlier xitter.gq/kush808/status/1055705…

.@FordIndia
.@MahindraXUV700 Appreciate if you could provide clarity.
Understand that seats are leatherette, but do let me know for the steering wheel & gear shift wrapping. Would indeed be helpful to the smaller group wanting to avoid leather.

India’s developed its indigenous, stealth, Autonomous Flying Wing craft. AWESOME. The future of defence is in Unmanned vehicles & this shows we’re not going to be left behind. And what a beauty. Advanced tech is also aesthetic!

Really?? The truth is that, in large part, our poverty was a result of decades of colonial rule which systematically plundered the wealth of an entire subcontinent. Yet the most valuable possession we were robbed of was not the Kohinoor Diamond but our pride & belief in our own capabilities. Because the goal of colonisation—its most insidious impact—is to convince its victims of their inferiority. Which is why investing in BOTH toilets AND space exploration is not a contradiction. Sir, what going to the moon does for us is that it helps restore our pride & self-confidence. It creates belief in progress through science. It gives us the aspiration to lift ourselves out of poverty. The greatest poverty is the poverty of aspiration…

This clip went around the world last week. A Chimpanzee in Cameroon, Africa apparently asked for a photographers’s help in drinking water; then repaid him by washing his hands gently… A useful applied lesson: If you want to succeed, then assist & support those in your community & workplace & you will, in turn, be supported by them… #MondayMotivation
