So, Wildwood is terrific. A lot of old folks like me wish for the dark, quasi-traumatic family film of our youths. We don’t get them very often, but Wildwood fits the bill. High fantasy, real stakes, complicated characters, incredible animation. Long live Laika.
CLAYFACE was gnarly! 2022's The Batman & 90's Batman TAS had a baby. Very comic-book-y (complimentary). Odd, tragic, gross, uncomfortable, and legit scary in places. A tricky balancing act but they totally pull it off.
WILDWOOD is a singular achievement. Craft and technical excellence on display is mind-blowing. Lost count of how many times I thought "I can't believe my eyes." Gotta see it to believe it. Only comps I can think of are 1st Toy Story, world of LOTR, or og Avatar in 3D.

Someone could probably write a book (if they haven’t already) about the cycle of technology productizing the removal of friction in the name of convenience only for us to discover that the friction was a load-bearing part of the social compact.
Someone told me he thinks dating apps are bad because they let you access connection without having any motion in your life. Normally meeting people requires going out into the world, entering new scenes and navigating unfamiliar situations. You have to be living a life that brings you into contact with other people. Dating apps let you order connection without doing any of that work

Took the whole family to WHALEFALL so we could be terrified, grossed out, *&* cry together. If you have a serious problem w/cephalopods, claustrophobia, bad smells, suffocation, sticky stuff, acid reflux, jellyfish, or daddy issues... then avoid (OR it's just what you need?).

I feel like this is holding well bc it's one of the few films in the Top 10 that isn't horror, political, sticky or charged subject matter, controversial, and it has good reviews/word of mouth. Feels reliable vs. risky/challenging, and plenty of ppl are into that.
