Numbers should be earned - not manufactured.
That’s why every score we publish is grounded in legislative voting records and transparent methodology.

Another House Republican leadership race is underway, this time for Conference Chair.
Reps. Lisa McClain and Erin Houchin are competing for the post. Here’s how their 2025 voting records compare under ILA’s Limited Government Index:
🇺🇸 Erin Houchin: 82.29%
🔴 Lisa McClain: 72.82%
Nearly 10 points separate their records heading into the leadership vote.

A wealth tax is not the answer to Washington’s spending problem.
It punishes saving and investment, discourages growth, and expands government’s reach into Americans’ private property.
Control spending. Don’t create new taxes.
Democrats are reviving proposals to tax wealthy Americans after winning control of Congress, setting up a potential confrontation with President Donald Trump over how to finance their affordability agenda. bit.ly/4ixwqiz
The House Republican race for Minority Whip is currently down to Reps. Tom Emmer and August Pfluger.
On the 2025 Limited Government Index, there’s very little separating them:
🇺🇸 Tom Emmer: 80.20%
🇺🇸 August Pfluger: 78.89%
With nearly identical voting records, the real distinctions may lie elsewhere.
Pfluger challenges Emmer for minority whip position

The race to lead House Republicans in the minority is taking shape.
Reps. Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise are both seeking the top leadership post, and their 2025 congressional voting records are relatively close under ILA’s Limited Government Index:
🇺🇸 Jim Jordan: 88.08%
🇺🇸 Steve Scalise: 82.41%
Not much separates them on the scorecard. Will the same be true in the leadership race?

When government-run healthcare is projected to push premiums up 13% next year, Democrats’ answer is… more government?
Government expansion only makes problems worse.
Republicans need to restore choice, competition, and transparency in healthcare before it's too late.
Spot on.
States compete for workers, businesses, investment, and taxpayers.
Pro-growth tax policy should make a state more attractive, not give taxpayers another reason to leave.
Amendment 87 puts Colorado’s competitive advantage at risk.
High tax burdens have proven to be a strong motivator for higher-income taxpayers to flee from states like New York even when neighboring states are similarly tax-happy.ntu.org/publications/detail/…
You know what’s really spooky? 👻
Not knowing how your elected officials are actually voting.
This Halloween, skip the political tricks. Check the record at limitedgov.org.
Tax credits that carve out special treatment for specific industries are bad policy. Film tax credits are no exception.
If lawmakers want to make the U.S. more competitive, the answer is broad-based tax and regulatory reform, not another industry-specific carveout.

I am honored to receive the Champion of Limited Government Award.
This recognition honors Members of Congress who most closely uphold the principles of limited government enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. I am proud to stand for these principles as I remain committed to protecting individual liberty and keeping the government accountable to the American people.
The Fourth Amendment should protect Americans from warrantless government surveillance. Congress should close the Section 702 backdoor by requiring a warrant to search Americans’ communications.
Credit to @RepMGriffith and @RepKeithSelf for continuing to push for stronger civil-liberty protections. 👏
.@RepMGriffith is right.
Get a warrant.

Minimum wage mandates in action.
Wages should be determined by the market, not politicians.
Oakland, CA $30 Minimum Wage Heads to 2028 Ballot, Could Cost Additional 8,000 Jobs.
Duh – California’s $20 Fast Food Wage has cost 20,000 jobs, increased automation, raised food prices.

This right here 👇 “The incentives remain.”
Lawmakers should eliminate ALL incentives that encourage illegal immigration, including taxpayer-funded benefits tied to housing, education, and other welfare programs.
Border security is not just about enforcement at the border, it also means ending policies that continue to make unlawful entry and residence more attractive.
🚨 A new migrant caravan is heading through Mexico toward the U.S.
The Trump Admin has stopped mass releases at the border, but the incentives remain.
Congress must close asylum loopholes and address the jobs magnet to prevent the next border crisis.

Raising the debt ceiling should never be treated as a blank check for more spending.
With the national debt now above $40 trillion, any increase should come with real, enforceable spending restraint and fiscal reforms.
Raise the ceiling without addressing the spending behind it and the problem only gets bigger.
Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., says he expects Republicans to attempt another budget reconciliation package in the lame-duck session with more defense funding and action to lift the debt ceiling. ow.ly/MES15100kJz
A wealth tax is one thing. Creating a national policy so people and businesses can’t leave for states with different tax laws is another.
When high taxes drive taxpayers and capital away, the answer isn’t to eliminate their ability to choose. It’s to reconsider the policy driving them out in the first place.
Medicare for All does not make healthcare free. It shifts trillions in costs onto taxpayers while dramatically expanding federal control over the healthcare system.
Real reform should focus on lowering costs through competition, transparency, and patient choice.

Three House Democrats are competing to shape the future of the Financial Services Committee, and their lifetime LGI Regulations scores show some notable differences:
🔵 Maxine Waters: 4.82%
🔵 Sean Casten: 16.25%
🔵 Bill Foster: 21.69%
The scores point to meaningful differences in how each has approached federal regulation, even within the same party.
Two Democrats who may challenge Rep. Maxine Waters for their party’s top slot on the House Financial Services Committee could shift the panel's focus to AI and climate change. ow.ly/Erua50ZZx1K
Alarming results from this survey.
Free speech means protecting speech we may not like or agree with.
First Amendment protections are FUNDAMENTAL to a free society, safeguarding the open exchange of ideas and limiting government power over expression.
Four in 10 college students say offensive speech should be subject to criminal prosecution, the highest share in the three years the question has been asked, according to a survey. newsmax.com/newsfront/offens…
Good. "Wealth taxes" are among the most economically damaging forms of taxation.
They discourage investment, incentivize high-income taxpayers to leave, and can ultimately undermine the economic growth and tax base they are intended to support.
